JSX Expands in Austin

JSX, the fast growing semi-private airline, is expanding their route map once again. This time, the airline is finally expanding in Austin, something I’ve been waiting to see for a long time. The airline announced on Monday that they will begin flights between Austin and Las Vegas on May 11th.

My opportunities to fly on JSX have been rather limited since my move to Austin so I’m happy to see a third route added to the map. The Las Vegas service will operate alongside the existing flights to Dallas-Love and Gunnison-Crested Butte. Pricing for the new service starts at $299 one way. The airline offers flights in an all business class configuration, featuring only 30 seats, using Embraer 135 and 145 jets. That fare also includes two free checked bags and complimentary snacks and alcoholic beverages onboard. The flights are already on sale and will operate with the following schedule.

AUS-LAS: JSX210 Depart: 12:45p Arrive: 2:00p

LAS-AUS: JSX211 Depart: 2:45p Arrive: 7:25p

One of my favorite parts about flying JSX is the easy passenger experience. Since they operate from private terminals and FBOs, there is no need to fight the long lines and crowding that have plagued airports, especially Austin, in the last few years. You can arrive at the private terminal 20 minutes before departure, drop your bags, and step right onto the plane. Security screening still occurs, but it isn’t managed by the TSA.

Once on board you’ll find lightning fast Starlink internet, which allows full streaming to your device from takeoff to touchdown. The internet service also allows for Zoom/Teams calls, though I’m not a fan of the idea that people can take calls inflight.

Hopefully this service is a success for JSX as I would love to see them continue to add service in Austin
