Delta Restarting Tampa to Amsterdam Flights

Delta and KLM have a Massive Presence in Amsterdam

Delta has a massive presence in Amsterdam as it is the largest hub for joint-venture partner KLM. In addition to the new Tampa service, Delta serves Amsterdam seasonally from nearby Orlando (MCO) and year round from Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Detroit (DTW), Minneapolis/St Paul (MSP), New York (JFK), Portland (PDX), Salt Lake City (SLC) and Seattle (SEA).

Matteo Curcio, Delta’s SVP for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India had this to say about the new route.

“By seamlessly linking Amsterdam’s vibrant international hub—Delta’s most-served airport in Europe—with Tampa Bay’s renowned beaches, Delta is offering customers a gateway to explore the best of Europe and America. With our premium amenities and extensive global network, travelers will have a lot to enjoy during the winter travel season.”

Schedule and Equipment

The Daily service between Tampa and Amsterdam will operate using Airbus A330-300 aircraft featuring Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin classes. The schedule has not been released yet but keep an eye on Delta.com for schedule information.

Amsterdam Connectivity

As someone who frequently takes KLM’s Austin to Amsterdam flight, I’m excited for Tampa to see this resumption in service. Travelers can connect in Amsterdam to over 100 cities across the globe via KLM’s hub.

KLM’s Amsterdam hub is one of the easier hub airports for connections across Europe. Business Class and SkyTeam elite passengers also have access to the fantastic KLM Crown Lounge 52 on non-Schengen flights and can utilize the Crown Lounge 25 when connecting to Schengen flights.

Summary

Delta is restarting seasonal service between Tampa (TPA) and Amsterdam (AMS). The flight will operate daily and compliment Delta and KLM’s robust Transatlantic network. This is a big win for Tampa locals as well as Europeans looking to escape the cold winter and head for Florida’s beautiful beaches.
