Air Canada Upgrades Complimentary Service Offerings in Economy

Air Canada is making improvements to the in-flight service offerings on flights just in time for the busy summer travel season. Starting June 5th, the airline is offering premium, complimentary snacks to travelers in the Economy cabin.

Complimentary beer and wine will also be offered to passengers of age on all Canadian and United States flights through the end of 2024. Spirits will also be available for $5. There’s no word on whether this will be extended past year end.

In announcing the upgrades to the in-flight experience, Scott O’Leary, Vice President, Loyalty & Product at Air Canada had this to say:

Upgraded Snacking in Economy

Economy customers on all Air Canada flights, short-haul and long-haul, can enjoy free sweet or savory snacks including some local Canadian favorites. The new offerings include TWIGZ buttery herb and garlic pretzels from Alberta and Leclerc’s Célébration Cookie, a sweet treat made with real milk chocolate and butter from Quebec.

Cheers to Complimentary Beverages

Air Canada is also offering free beer and wine to passengers of legal drinking age on flights within Canada and the United States through the end of the year. This is an expansion of the existing complimentary offerings that are found on long-haul Economy and premium cabin flights. Economy travelers on flights to and from Mexico and the Caribbean can purchase beer, wine and spirits via the Air Canada Bistro menu once onboard.

The complimentary beers on offer include craft brews like Creemore Springs Premium Lager and Hop Valley Bubble Stash IPA. Traditional light beers Molson Canadian and Coors Light are also available. On the wine front, a red and white option from Paul Mas is available.

In the press release Air Canada claims to have the largest bar offering of any airline in North America. For the remainder of 2024 on flights within Canada and the United States, the following spirits are available for $5; Baileys Original Irish Cream, Canadian Club rye, Bacardi Superior rum, Bombay Sapphire gin, Smirnoff vodka, Tromba Tequila Blanco, and Campari.

Summary

Air Canada is increasing their complimentary service offerings in Economy to include a selection of premium snacks, beer, and wine. With so many North American airlines cutting services in Economy, it is exciting to see Air Canada go on the offensive and increase them.

The premium snacks are available for customers in Economy around the globe while complimentary beer and wine can be found on flights within Canada and the United States. A large selection of $5 spirits are available on these flights for the remainder of the year.
