WestJet Launching Flights Between Kelowna and Seattle

WestJet is launching flights between Kelowna, BC and Seattle, WA in January. The Calgary based carrier will connect the southern British Columbia city with nearby Seattle. Flights will begin operating 5x weekly on January 17th, 2025 and transition to daily service beginning February 17th, 2025.

The route is being launched to provide travelers with more seamless connectivity between the Kelowna area and U.S. destinations through WestJet’s longstanding partnership with Delta Air Lines. In the press release, John Weatherill, WestJet Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, had this to say about the new route:

“As we continue to strengthen our service across Western Canada, we are proud to connect Kelowna with new daily WestJet service to Seattle as part of our expanded winter schedule. This route will provide guests in the Okanagan and across the Pacific Northwest regions with new convenient and affordable options to easily connect between both popular regions for business and leisure year-round.”

The flights are scheduled to allow for connections on both ends, though it primarily benefits travelers departing Kelowna. The 219 mile flight will depart Kelowna at 9:00a, allowing passengers to connect onwards to 24 destinations via a codeshare with Delta. These destinations include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, San Diego, and Phoenix. The return flight will depart Seattle at 11:30a, allowing passengers to connect via the morning bank, and arrive in Kelowna at 12:37p local time. With the launch of Seattle service, WestJet will serve 12 destinations from Kelowna this winter operating up to 20 daily flights. Destinations include Canadian cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver as well as warm weather destinations such as Las Vegas, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and San Jose del Cabo.

Passengers connecting in Seattle will also benefit from seamless travel on a single purchased ticket with check-in available for all flights at the origin and bags tagged to their final destination. Additionally, frequent flyers of both airlines will continue to enjoy extensive reciprocal benefits any time they fly with either carrier, including earning and redeeming in their preferred program. Delta Sky Club lounge access is also available for eligible WestJet guests.

Summary

WestJet is launching flights between Kelowna, British Columbia and Seattle, Washington. The 219 mile flight will provide WestJet passengers connectivity to two-dozen destinations via partner Delta Air Lines’ Seattle hub. Travelers with both carriers frequent flyer programs will receive reciprocal benefits. While there likely won’t be much O/D traffic on this route, it opens up a ton of connecting opportunities for WestJet flyers.
