Greetings from Dallas! Mrs. ATX and I are back in our old stomping grounds this weekend as she’s attending a baby shower. I’ll be spending the day watching college football with friends from our old neighborhood.
On the travel news front, W-Fi was front and center this week with Southwest announcing it would introduce free W-Fi for Rapid Rewards members. Emirates also made waves by banning children eight and under from the First Class cabin, but only on award tickets. Those stories and more on the ATX Jetsetter for the week ended September 6, 2025.

Southwest is Introducing Free Wi-Fi for Rapid Rewards Members
Southwest Airlines is rolling out free Wi-Fi for Rapid Rewards members in partnership with T-Mobile. The new offering goes live October 24, 2025 and will be available on over 800 aircraft across the Southwest fleet.

Royal Jordanian is Launching Flights to Dallas
Royal Jordanian, the flag carrier of Jordan, will launch 4x weekly flights between Dallas and Amman beginning in May 2026. The route will operate year round using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

American Airlines Takes Delivery of its 1,000th Mainline Aircraft
American Airlines has become the second airline to hit the 1,000 aircraft mark, following United. The Fort Worth based carrier took delivery of the plane, a premium-heavy Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, on August 29, 2025. The plane was placed into revenue service yesterday on a flight between Dallas (DFW) and Philadelphia (PHL) before operating flights on the Philadelphia-London (LHR) route.

Flying Blue Promo Rewards: September 2025
Flying Blue, the loyalty program for Air France and KLM, have released the promo rewards for September 2025. These rewards are for tickets booked this month for travel through February 28, 2026. While there isn’t much of interest in premium cabins between the United States and Europe, there are some decent redemption opportunities to Africa and South America this month.

National Car Rental Takes Reservations but has No Cars Available
A group traveling over Labor Day weekend to the LSU vs. Clemson game in South Carolina landed in Atlanta to find no rental cars available despite having a reservation. Unfortunately, in situations like this, there is little to no recourse available from the company as they typically just offer to cancel your reservation.
Fortunately for them, they managed to salvage their trip, though it cost hundreds of dollars in out of pocket expenses and hours of additional work. Plus, the real Tigers pulling off a win in Death Valley Jr. likely helped soften the blow.

Emirates Bans Children in First Class When Traveling on Mileage Tickets
Emirates is blocking children eight and under from sitting in First Class when redeeming Skywards miles. While children under right can still travel on cash tickets, it’s clear that the airline is trying to limit young children in First Class. Will we see more restrictions in the future?

Summary
This is the second of five straight weeks of travel for me, so you may have noticed the posting slow down a bit. Fortunately, it means I’ll have a ton of new review content , including reviews from our recent trip to Japan.
While I couldn’t include everything in this recap, we’ll keep bringing you the top stories each week at ATXJetsetter.com. As always, thank you for checking out the weekly recap for the week ended September 6, 2025!
