Weekly Recap: September 13, 2025

Greetings from Baton Rouge! Mrs. ATX and I are in town to watch the LSU Fighting Tigers take on the Florida Gators! Since I’m writing this update from the alumni center lobby, I’ll make this short and sweet. The weekly recap for the week ended September 13, 2025 is below.

British Airways Bans Cabin Crews From Drinking in Public

British Airways has updated its crew uniform and appearance guidelines with some controversial changes. In addition to effectively banning crewmembers from drinking anything while in uniform, commuters are no longer allowed to travel to/from their base in uniform when not on duty.

Air France Introduces Complimentary Wi-Fi Onboard

Air France is the latest airline to introduce fast, free Starlink Wi-Fi onboard its planes. Only a handful of aircraft are equipped with the service at the time of this writing but, the whole fleet is expected to be upgraded by the end of 2026.

JetBlue Retires the Embraer 190; Transitions to an All Airbus Fleet

JetBlue, the final U.S. operator of the Embraer 190, flew its last flight with the jet between New York and Boston earlier this week. With the removal of the E190, JetBlue has transitioned to an all Airbus fleet.

Review: Delta Boeing 717-200 First Class

Overall, First Class on Delta’s Boeing 717-200 is fine. Since the aircraft is smaller and used on shorter routes, you won’t get the full Delta in-flight experience, like seatback IFE, but for an hour long flight it was perfectly adequate.

If you keep your expectations in check and think of the 717 as a large regional jet, you should be just fine on this aircraft. However, the airline does operate the 717 on some longer routes, like Atlanta-Dallas Love (DAL), which isn’t as pleasant. Given the routes that it operates, I’ll no doubt fly on a Delta 717 again and it is certainly better than flying on a CRJ.

Review: Delta Sky Club Atlanta (ATL) Concourse A

While it isn’t the nicest Sky Club in Atlanta, the Concourse A lounge is by far one of the most well hidden. This makes it less hectic than the other Sky Clubs at the airport even at peak times. The lounge is expected to get a facelift later this year and I’m hoping that the entrance stays tucked away and off the beaten path.

Summary

This is the third of five straight travel weeks for me. While I’ve been out of pocket more than usual, the travel news hasn’t slowed down.
