Weekly Recap: October 25, 2025

Greetings from Dallas! The ATX Jetsetter crew is in DFW for the weekend to visit some old friends and celebrate the first birthday of one of ATX Jr.’s friends. With the party over, I’m on the couch watching football getting ready for my LSU Tigers to take on the Texas A&M Aggies later tonight.

My parents are having a much more adventurous week, cruising the Greek Isles and Turkey aboard the Star Legend. Seeing the photos from their trip is giving me the motivation I need to spend part of the day planning our next international trips.

On the travel and aviation news front, it was a busy week with plenty of new route announcements, airline partnerships, and onboard service offering upgrades. All of that and more in the ATX Jetsetter weekly recap for the week ended October 25, 2025.

American Airlines Will Serve Lavazza Coffee Onboard

American is making the switch to Lavazza coffee in its lounges and onboard. The Fort Worth base carrier is the second U.S. airline to make a change to its coffee provider in 2025 after Southwest Airlines announced a change from Community to Peet’s Coffee.

Lavazza is obviously a step above Southwest’s new offerings and shows me that the carrier is serious about its commitment to becoming a more premium airline.

I’m curious as to whether any of you have used these tools and if there are others that I may not be aware of that could be helpful.

American Airlines and Citi Launch the AAdvantage Globe Card

American Airlines and Citi have just released the newest member of its AAdvantage cobranded credit card portfolio. The Citi AAdvantage Globe Mastercard falls in between the $99 annual fee Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard and the $595 annual fee Executive World Elite Mastercard.

Ultimately, which card is right for you will come down to your travel and spending habits, though the addition of the Globe card does a nice job of rounding out the carrier’s credit card offerings.

Blue Sky Takes Flight: JetBlue and United Partnership Now Live

Though the Blue Skies partnership is far from complete, the first phase of the partnership between United and JetBlue is now live. While the reciprocal points and miles earnings are roughly what I would have expected, the real benefits will come with reciprocal perks and benefits in early 2026.
