The First Waldorf Astoria in Texas is Coming to Fredericksburg

Hilton Hotels is partnering with Wine Country Hospitality Partners LLC to open the first Waldorf Astoria property in the state of Texas. The property won’t be in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, but rather in Fredericksburg. The Texas Hill Country property will be a short drive from both Austin and San Antonio.

The new property is expected to open in 2027 and will feature 60 dedicated hotel guest rooms and suites, 37 branded multi-bedroom resort villas eligible to participate in a hotel rental program as 74 additional keys. The property will also have 50 Waldorf Astoria Residences on site.

The 50 private residences will be located along the edge of the property with waterside views of Baron’s Creek. Owners will have access to the resort amenities and the signature resident services that the Waldorf Astoria brand is known for.

The developers are currently taking reservations for these homes and owner benefits include Hilton Honors Diamond status for the length of ownership as well as discounted room rates at Hilton properties and travel assistance.

The resort is expected to include five food and beverage concepts that include an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurant, bar and lounge, pool bar and convenient grab-and-go juice bar. An 11,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, and two resort-style pools will also be on property. The footprint of this hotel will be absolutely massive, spanning more than 100 acres, despite being less than a mile from downtown Fredericksburg.

Younger guests will be able to utilize the Kids Club on site, which sounds like a good spot for ATX Jr. to hang out while mom and dad hit the spa. There will also be approximately 6,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including a 4,000 square foot event barn.

The Rapid Expansion of Fredericksburg

The Texas Hill Country is the most popular wine-tasting destination in the state and the second most visited wine country in the United States, after Napa Valley. It is home to over 100 wineries spread amongst rolling hills farms.

With the rapid expansion of visitors to the area, new hotels are desperately needed. Robert Radovan, one of the developers of the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country, had this to say about the upcoming property:

“Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country marks a significant shift for hospitality in Texas, bringing the renowned service and luxury experience of the brand to a destination with unmatched potential. Waldorf Astoria Residences Texas Hill Country open a rare opportunity to call this destination home, with the robust amenities and service that come with branded living. Each of these homes will be a modern rendition of what exists here today, creating a space that feels familiar, celebrates the land and ushers in a new escape to explore and reconnect with one another.”

Mrs. ATX and I are frequent visitors to the Texas Hill Country and have visited many vineyards in the area. We took a last minute mini-babymoon to Fredericksburg just before ATX Jr. was born and, while we enjoyed our hotel, the hill country is overdue for some higher end offerings these days. I’m certainly excited to see that the first Waldorf Astoria in Texas will be just down the road from my house and I look forward to staying there shortly after opening.
