SWISS, the flag carrier of Switzerland, is preparing to take delivery of the first of ten Airbus A350-900 aircraft. These planes will be used as part of the carrier’s fleet modernization and now we have more details regarding the first route and deployment timeline for the new aircraft.

SWISS will Initially Fly the A350 to Boston
SWISS is planning to take delivery of its first A350, which will appear in a special ‘SWISS Wanderlust’ livery, this October. The airline will deploy the A350 on routes across Europe initially as part of familiarization flights for the crew. I would expect to see this plane to fly to other Lufthansa Group hubs like Munich (MUC) and Frankfurt (FRA) initially, due to their familiarization with the A350.
Beginning this winter, SWISS will deploy its A350s on the Zurich-Boston route, marking the first intercontinental service for the carrier’s A350. SWISS currently operates two daily flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Zurich Airport (ZRH) with Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

SWISS will drop down to one daily flight this winter and, while the carrier states that flights are already bookable from January 1, 2026 onward, the route is still shown as being operated by the A330 for the time being.
I flew on the airline’s A330 last year in Business Class and found the product to be uncomfortable and outdated, so the addition of the A350 will be an welcome change for passengers.

SWISS is Introducing New Cabins on the A350
As part of the A350 rollout new First Class, Business Class, and Economy cabins are being installed onboard. The new cabins, known as SWISS Senses, represents a redesign of the carrier’s onboard experience. SWISS will retain Premium Economy on its A350s, though that cabin won’t change as it was recently introduced fleetwide.
In First Class passengers will find sliding doors for extra privacy, a large personal wardrobe and tray table, heated and cooled seats, wireless charging, and an oversized IFE screen. The center suite, while sold as a single seat, can be configured for two passengers traveling together.

In Business Class, passengers can choose from a variety of different seating options based upon their individual wants and needs. Unlike the current Business Class offering on the carrier’s fleet of A330s and Boeing 777s, each Business Class seat on the A350 will have direct aisle access.

A door will be provided at select seats for additional privacy while each seat will feature heating and cooling along with a wireless charging station. You can learn more about the SWISS Senses cabins here.
Summary
SWISS is preparing to take delivery of its first Airbus A350-900. After familiarization flights in Europe, the airline will deploy the A350 on its route between Boston and Zurich. The introduction of the A350 also marks the introduction of the new SWISS Senses cabins in First Class, Business Class, and Economy.
