A few weeks after emerging from Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Spirit Airlines is making some updates to its route map. The ultra-low cost carrier (ULCC) is adding two new destinations in the southeastern United States with service to multiple cities.

Chattanooga Gets Spirit Service
On June 4, 2025, Spirit will launch service from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA) to three destinations. The carrier will fly between Chattanooga and the following airports 3-4x weekly:
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, had this to say about the new service:
“We’re excited to expand our Tennessee network and welcome our CHA Guests onboard as we launch three new nonstop routes, just in time for a fun summer vacation. Chattanooga is known as the Scenic City for good reason, and travelers from major East Coast cities can discover a new destination with southern charm, breathtaking views and endless outdoor activities.”
Chattanooga joins Nashville (BNA) and Memphis (MEM) on the carrier’s list of destinations in Tennessee.
Columbia, South Carolina Joins the Party
The day after service to Chattanooga is scheduled to begin, the Florida based ULCC will set up shop at Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE). Like the Chattanooga flights, the airline will serve Fort Lauderdale, Newark, and Orlando 3-4x weekly.
Gregg Hornsby, Interim President & CEO and CFO at Columbia Metropolitan Airport, had this to say about the new service:
“Securing three nonstop routes on Spirit Airlines is a significant accomplishment for the airport and likewise a big win for this entire community and region. We’re excited to welcome the Spirit team to the airport and look forward to seeing travelers in the coming months taking advantage of these fantastic air service opportunities.”
Columbia will become the airline’s third destination in South Carolina, joining Myrtle Beach (MYR) and Charleston (CHS).

Spirit Offers Special Introductory Pricing on the Route
To celebrate the launch of the new destinations, Spirit Airlines is offering special pricing on all six routes. Passengers can book flights starting at $50 one way through March 20, 2025 via the Spirit website.
I flew with the carrier late last year in its rebranded Go Big offering and had a fairly enjoyable flight. There were a few things that the airline needs to clean up to get more of my business but, as someone who typically avoids ULCCs, I’d consider them if the route and timings were right.
Summary
Spirit Airlines is launching service to two new destinations in the southeastern United States. Columbia, South Carolina and Chattanooga, Tennessee will see less than daily service from the ULCC to Fort Lauderdale, Newark, and Orlando. Introductory fares of $50 are currently being offered for all six routes on the carrier’s website.
