Act Fast: Southwest is Back With Another Companion Pass Promotion

Southwest Airlines is once again offering passengers the opportunity to snag a promotional Companion Pass. This is the third promotional companion pass offer we’ve seen in 2025 with the airline previously offering them in February and June.

How to Earn a Promotional Companion Pass

Southwest Airlines sent an email to customers today promoting its most recent Companion Pass offer. Like most of the recent ones we’ve seen, Southwest is only requiring passengers to book and fly two one-way flights, or a single roundtrip flight, in order to qualify.

Southwest is bringing back its popular Companion Pass promotion for the third time this year.

If you’re interested in this promotion you’ll need to act fast as you need to register for the promotion and book your flights by Thursday August 28, 2025. Travel must be completed by November 15, 2025 and the pass will be issued on January 6, 2026 and will remain valid until March 6, 2026. Specifically, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Register for the promotion.
  • Purchase one roundtrip flight or two one-way tickets by August 28, 2025 (Tickets must be booked after registering, existing bookings during this period don’t count). Note that Basic fares, formerly Wanna Get Away fares, are excluded from this promotion so double check your booking.
  • Complete travel by November 15, 2025

Is This Promotion Worth It?

As I mentioned above, this is the third promotional Companion Pass offer we’ve seen this year. While I took part in the first one, I sat out on the second as I didn’t have any plans to fly Southwest with anyone during the timeframe offered. For this promotion, I’m highly considering registering for this as I need to book a flight in the window on a route operated by Southwest.

The promotional dates for this pass fall in a slower period for the airline but one that I find myself flying in quite often. Mrs. ATX and I both like to go ski and the dates are right in the middle of prime ski season. Flights from Austin can get quite expensive so this offer is tempting.

Mrs. ATX and I are putting our Companion Pass to good use next month when we go to the LSU vs. Florida game in Baton Rouge. Tickets on the route were insanely expensive so having the ability to purchase one seat and add her as a companion for $5.60 in taxes and fees saved us hundreds of dollars.

Summary

Southwest Airlines has brought back its popular Companion Pass promotion for the third time this year. Passengers will need to act fast as registration and booking bust occur by August 28, 2025 with travel occurring by November 15, 2025.
