Southwest Airlines has just announced a change to its inflight coffee provider and, as someone from Louisiana, this may be the most devastating change from the carrier yet.

Peet’s is Replacing Community Coffee Onboard Southwest Flights
Say goodbye to Community Coffee onboard Southwest Airlines flights. Beginning August 13, 2025, the Dallas based carrier will begin serving Peet’s Coffee onboard its flights. Peet’s, which was founded in 1966, becomes the official coffee provider for the airline. This marks the first time the company has teamed up with a major U.S. airline to serve its coffee onboard.
Eric Lauterbach, President & CEO of Peet’s Coffee, had this to say about the new partnership:
“This is a defining moment for Peet’s. To be part of every Southwest flight means more than expanding our reach – it’s about creating memorable coffee moments in the skies. This partnership introduces the Peet’s experience to millions of new consumers as part of their daily ritual in a way that’s personal and meaningful. Most importantly, it brings the rich, bold flavor of Peet’s wherever their journey takes them.”
In addition to being served onboard, Peet’s Coffee cafes are available in 25 airports that are currently served by Southwest. This includes outlets at some of the carrier’s largest bases like Denver (DEN), Houston-Hobby (HOU), and Phoenix (PHX).
Tony Roach, Executive Vice President of Customer & Brand at Southwest Airlines, said this about the switch to Peet’s:
“We are enhancing our inflight experience to better serve our Customers. A great cup of coffee goes a long way in creating a comfortable and enjoyable flight — and it’s just one part of our broader effort to elevate our Customers’ journey with us.”
Peet’s Off the Grid medium roast coffee will be served onboard, replacing Community Coffee’s Signature Blend. Signature Blend has been served onboard Southwest Airlines flights since 2016.

Summary
Southwest Airlines is switching from Community Coffee to Peet’s Coffee as of August 13, 2025. Peet’s “Off the Grid” blend will be served onboard, replacing Community Coffee’s Signature Blend which has been the carrier’s coffee of choice since 2016.
It’s no Lavazza but certainly an upgrade.
I grew up on Community, so I’m partial to it. Haven’t had Peet’s often but I don’t remember it being bad.
