According to the airline, the resumption of service marks a significant step in reconnecting the region and providing passengers with seamless access to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network of more than 170 destinations. With the resumption of service, Qatar Airways becomes the first global carrier to serve Damascus since the fall of former President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024.

In restarting operations to Syria, Qatar Airways has committed to working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that all necessary safety, security, and operational standards are met ahead of the relaunch.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, had this to say about the resumption of service to Syria:

“We are pleased to resume flights to Damascus, a destination of great historical and cultural importance. This announcement underscores our dedication to fostering connectivity and facilitating travel for our passengers.”

While it is unclear what aircraft type will be used on the route, I have had the opportunity to fly with the carrier on its widebody and narrowbody aircraft and had great experience on each.

At the time of publication, the new flights have not yet been loaded into the Qatar Airways booking platform. We will update this post with aircraft type, days of operation, and flight schedules once that information has been made available.
