Qatar Airways Completes A350 Starlink Rollout, Begins 787 Upgrades

Qatar Airways has reached another major milestone in the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet.

Qatar Airways has completed the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet of Airbis A350 aircraft. The Doha based carrier added the service to all of its A350s in just eight months. The A350 joins the Boeing 777 as the carrier’s two completely upgraded fleet types.

Qatar Airways has completed the rollout across its 777 and A350 fleets in just 14 months and. According to the carrier’s press release, Starlink connected 21 million passengers using their service in 2025 and roughly half of that, 10 million, was Qatar Airways passengers.

With the A350 rollout complete, the airline has moved on to its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. To date, three 787s have been upgraded with Starlink Wi-Fi, including the world’s first Boeing 787-8, the smallest of the three 787s variants.

Currently, Qatar Airways has outfitted 58% of its widebody fleet with the service, comprising almost 120 aircraft. The airline has certainly been using a variety of means to promote the service, including hosting a gaming competition in the sky, since Starlink first launched on its planes in October 2024.

My Thoughts

Unfortunately, I don’t have any firsthand experience with Starlink Wi-Fi onboard aircraft as my primary carriers don’t offer the service onboard. I’m hoping that changes this year as United continues its rollout of the service to allow for a firsthand account.

In the meantime, based on feedback I have heard from passengers, the addition of Starlink on any aircraft has greatly enhanced the passenger experience. One guy I know even made a FaceTime call onboard a Qatar Airways flight though, for the sake of the other passengers around you, I highly recommend against this.

It will be interesting to watch Qatar’s progress over the next few years and see how it chooses to approach installation on its narrowbody aircraft and planes like the A330 and A380.

Summary

Qatar Airways has completed the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi on its fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft. The A350 joins the Boeing 777 as the fully outfitted aircraft types in the Qatar Airways fleet. The airline has mow moved on to outfitting its Boeing 787 fleet with the service as it continues its aggressive rollout timeline.
