November 2024 Monthly Recap

Another year is rapidly coming to an end and it’s time for the November 2024 Monthly Recap. Travel has picked up as we approach year end and a few major aviation stories made for a great month. So, lets jump into this month’s top stories.

Allegiant Air Announces a Massive Route Expansion

Allegiant Air announced its largest route expansion in company history as the ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) announced 44 new routes in a single day. The expansion adds three new airports to the airline’s route network and continues its strategy of serving underserved airports with point to point flying.

Is Delta Working On A 100th Anniversary Livery?

2025 will mark the 100th Anniversary of Delta Air Lines. The now global carrier was founded on March 2, 1925, as Huff Daland Dusters in Macon, GA. What started as a small crop dusting operation has grown into one of the largest airlines in the world and the airline appears to be gearing up to celebrate.

An eagle eyed aviation photographer spotted a new Airbus A321neo at the factory in Toulouse sporting what appears to be a new special livery for the airline. Officially, Delta is keeping things under wraps until CEO Ed Bastian kicks off the anniversary celebrations at CES in Las Vegas on January 7, 2025.

Flight Review: Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-900 First Class

I’ve been making an effort to try some new to me airlines over the past few months and finally had the opportunity to fly with Alaska Airlines in its Boeing 737-900 First Class. While it doesn’t have a cutting edge hard product, the friendly and attentive service from the crew along with some good food more than made up for that. Though their route network is somewhat limited if you don’t live on the West Coast, Alaska Airlines is worth checking out if you have the chance.

Lounge Review: Aspire Lounge San Diego (SAN)

During our recent trip to San Diego, we stopped by the Aspire Lounge prior to our flight back to Austin. The lounge looks nice on the surface but, the space is packed and in dire need of a refresh. The space is worn down and not a great look for an airline hub, Alaska Airlines uses this lounge in lieu of an Alaska Lounge in San Diego.

Hotel Review: Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection

Rounding out a trio of San Diego reviews, we had a great stay during our trip at the Hotel Republic. This Marriott Autograph Collection property was close enough to many of the major attractions that we could walk to them but, not on top of any of them. While the room wasn’t anything special, it more than met our needs and I’d happily stay here again.

The Hotel Republic San Diego has a convenient location, great amenities, and reasonable pricing which made for a very pleasant stay.

Summary

With November in the books, we have one month left to round out 2024. I’ll be spending the time catching up on some reviews, doing a bit of travelling, and putting the finishing touches on three international trips I have in the works for 2025. I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday and I’m thankful for you all and appreciate you checking out the November 2024 Monthly Recap.
