Lufthansa Reopens its Updated First Class Lounge in Munich (MUC)

After being closed for renovations for more than seven months, Lufthansa has reopened its First Class Lounge in Terminal 2 at Munich Airport (MUC).

This is the first remodeled First Class lounge opening from Lufthansa after it announced upgrades to its lounges as part of the Allegris rollout. The Lufthansa Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) was the first to receive the Allegris touches when it opened last year.

The remodeled First Class Lounge opened today, May 22, 2025, and covers just under 11,000 square feet. The redesigned lounge offers a gastronomic area with an “à la carte” restaurant, a front cooking buffet and a new bar area that offers a wide variety of wines and spirits.

According to the airline, the lounge also offers a variety of amenities such as quiet retreats, elegant washrooms, well-equipped work areas with printers and photocopiers as well as extensive entertainment facilities with TV areas and a large selection of newspapers and magazines.

While I haven’t had the chance to visit the Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Munich, the chatter on frequent flyer forums indicates that the changes are more of a refresh than a full blown remodel. The space looks nice but I don’t see anything groundbreaking. One would assume the attention to detail and level of service you’d expect in this lounge would be elevated compared to your standard Business Class lounge.

Strangely, Lufthansa’s press release focused mainly on the changes in the dining space, though no pictures of that area were provided. If anyone is traveling through Munich in First Class soon, I’d be curious to hear your experience.

The lounge opening couldn’t come at a better time as Lufthansa prepares to launch its new Allegris First Class on the A350-900 from Munich to Chicago (ORD), San Francisco (SFO), San Diego (SAN), Shanghai (PVG) and Bengaluru (BLR) this summer. The lounge rounds out the First Class experience in Munich after a renovated First Class check in area opened in recent months.

The remodeled Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Munich is located in Terminal 2, near Gate G21 for Schengen Zone passengers and Gate H21 for non-Schengen passengers. The lounge is open daily between 5:00a and 10:00p. Admission rules for the lounge can be found here.

Summary

After being closed for renovations for more than seven months, Lufthansa has just reopened its updated First Class Lounge in Terminal 2 at Munich Airport. While the renovations took quite some time, the lounge doesn’t appear to have undergone any major changes with most of the upgrades limited to the dining areas.
