LOT Polish Airlines and ITA Airways have announced a codeshare agreement that will expand upon the two carriers’ existing interline agreement and offer more connectivity for passengers.

The news of the increased partnership comes as ITA Airways prepares to join Star Alliance in 2026, of which LOT Polish is a member. The new codeshare flights will allow passengers to travel under a uniform luggage policy and fare conditions doe the duration of their travels with the two carriers.
Robert Ludera, LOT’s Registered Representative and Director of the LOT Polish Airlines Network Bureau, said this about the new partnership:
“Reaching a codeshare agreement with ITA Airways is part of the implementation of our strategy, which includes expanding our offer and improving the quality of our services. Through this cooperation, LOT’s passengers gain access to a wide network of domestic connections in Italy, which will significantly facilitate travel in this beautiful country. We encourage you to discover Italy, now more accessible to travelers from Poland than ever before. We will also be pleased to welcome our partner’s travelers on board LOT, providing them with a convenient transfer offer to a wide range of destinations in our route network.”
LOT Polish currently serves three destinations in Italy, offering flights to Milan, Venice, and Rome. From here, LOT Polish passengers can connect onwards to ten destinations in Italy with ITA Airways: Bari, Bologna, Brindisi, Florence, Genoa, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo and Turin.
ITA Airways passengers can take advantage of additional connectivity to a variety of destinations on LOT Polish Airlines via its hub at Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW). Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of ITA Airways, said this about the additional connectivity:
“We are pleased to sign this codeshare agreement with LOT Polish Airlines. This partnership is an additional significant step in ITA Airways’ growth strategy, enhancing connectivity for our passengers. It creates a privileged and convenient travel route between Italy and Poland, further strengthening the economic and commercial ties between our two countries. Additionally, it enhances LOT passengers’ travel experience, offering them the opportunity to enjoy the excellence of Made in Italy, which ITA Airways proudly represents as an ambassador worldwide.”
Since this is an expansion of an existing interline partnership, it will be up and running as of April 10, 2025 with flights currently on sale via the respective airline’s websites.
While I haven’t flown with LOT Polish Airlines, I have flown ITA Airways on its route between Brussels and Rome. The carrier operates a fleet of Airbus A220 and A320 family aircraft on its European routes and I had a nice flight with them. Plus, who doesn’t love seeing that bright blue plane?

Once ITA Airways joins Star Alliance, I expect it to further strengthen its cooperation with member airlines including offering reciprocal elite benefits.
Summary
LOT Polish Airlines and ITA Airways have entered into a codeshare agreement that will allow passengers to seamlessly connect between ITA Airways hubs in Italy and LOT’s hub in Warsaw. The new agreement goes into effect on April 10, 2025 and tickets for the new routes are already on sale.
