A KLM Boeing 737-800 veered off of the runway earlier today at Sandefjord Airport, Torp (TRF). The 24 year old aircraft, registration PH-BXM was operating Flight 1204 from Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) to Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (AMS) when it experienced a hydraulic failure just after departure.
The pilots declared an emergency before diverting to Sandefjord Airport, Torp which is located roughly 100 miles to the southwest. The aircraft landed on Runway 18 before veering off the right side of the runway and coming to rest in the grass near a taxiway. According to reports, there were no injuries reported amongst the 182 passengers and crew onboard.

While it likely wasn’t a fun ride for the passengers onboard, it’s great to see that there were no injuries. We’ve seen a couple of high profile incidents recently, including one a few hours after this incident occurred so I’m happy everyone was able to walk away.
Given the age of the aircraft, and the fact that KLM is replacing its ageing Boeing 737 fleet with Airbus A321 aircraft, I’d imagine that this plane has flown it’s last revenue flight.
