JSX, the all-business class public charter air carrier, announced back in June 2025 that it planned to launch flights using turboprop aircraft. We now have more information on that service with the first route being announced.
What is JSX?
JSX, also known as Jet Suite X, is a public charter air carrier that operates a fleet of Embraer E135 and E145 regional jets in an all-Business Class configuration. The company operates point to point flights which typically operate from private terminals and fixed base operators (FBOs) instead of commercial terminals.

The airline is able to do this as it operates under Part 135 regulations, which governs on-demand and commuter flights with aircraft up to 30 seats. Because of this, it doesn’t have to follow the same rules that Part 121 commercial carriers are subject to.
JSX is one of my favorite ways to travel. The public charter air carrier used to operate multiple routes from my home airport of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and I’ve had the opportunity to fly with them on multiple occasions. However, its been a few years since they served Austin on a regular basis so it has been a while since I’ve flown with them.
JSX Plans to Operate ATR 42-600 Turboprops as Part of a Network Expansion
While the public charter air carrier has historically operated an all-Embraer jet fleet, the company is expanding its operation with all-Business Class configured ATR 42-600 turboprops. According to JSX, it has plans to take delivery of four of these aircraft by year end and, assuming operations go well, it has the option to add up to 25 more aircraft in the coming years.

While we have known for a few months that the airline will operate these planes, we now know the initial route that it will operate. Beginning December 19, 2025, JSX will launch new service from Santa Monica Airport (SMO) to Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas.
JSX plans to operate daily service between the two airports with passengers able to arrive at the airport with as little as twenty minutes before their flight. All tickets include at least 2 checked bags, including golf bags and ski equipment, along with complimentary snacks, cocktails and Starlink Wi-Fi onboard (Starlink is currently available on the carrier’s Embraer fleet and will be installed on the ATR aircraft in early 2026).
JSX CEO Alex Wilcox had this to say about the launch of turboprop flights to Santa Monica:
“Santa Monica has always been a place where innovation takes flight – from the iconic DC-3, the original 30-seat airliner designed and built at Santa Monica Airport, to the community’s modern spirit of progress. JSX is proud to continue that legacy by offering residents a smarter, quieter, and more convenient way to travel. With demand for efficient regional travel at an all-time high, our operations at Santa Monica Airport will deliver joyful, attainable air travel while supporting local families and businesses. We are committed to being a responsible, respectful community partner for as long as Santa Monica chooses to keep its airport open.”
Flights on the new route are currently on sale via the JSX website with one way fares starting as low as $149.
