JetBlue is Changing How Passengers Book Extra Legroom Seats

JetBlue revealed its third quarter earnings today and with that included plans for how it sells its extra legroom seats. The carrier has been working to return to profitability in recent months; adjusting service, adding lounges, and deferring deliveries of aircraft. Now we know the next step in the process with these new changes to extra legroom seating.

According to the release, JetBlue is replacing its Even More Space extra legroom seating with a new bundle called EvenMore. The airline states that the new approach is designed to boost customer consideration for JetBlue and strengthen the airline’s competitive position in the premium leisure segment.

JetBlue is rebranding its Even More Space extra legroom seats into a new EvenMore bundle beginning in 2025.

For a while, there was a rumor that the airline planned to add a “Mini Mint” domestic First Class cabin on its non-Mint equipped aircraft. Now, the carrier is pivoting to position EvenMore as a separate, standalone class of service.

Currently when booking flights with JetBlue, Even More Space seats are only shown as Economy seats that come with extra perks, rather than a separate offering. Beginning in mid-November, the airline will begin offering Even More Space seating as a separate class of service. This is similar to what Delta does with its Comfort+ offering though passengers can continue to purchase Even More Space seats when booking Economy tickets.

JetBlue is positioning its EvenMore extra legroom seats as a separate class of service, similar to Delta’s Comfort+.

Beginning in 2025, the airline will rebrand the offering to EvenMore and “include new benefits and amenities with the existing extra legroom seat, creating an appealing offering for customers considering buying up for more space and perks.” JetBlue doesn’t get into specifics about what these perks will be, though I could imagine things like priority boarding, free alcohol, enhanced snacks, etc. to be offered. An announcement regarding the perks will be made at a later date.

Marty St. George, President of JetBlue, had this to say about the new EvenMore offering:

“We’re thrilled to enhance our popular extra legroom seats, giving customers even more reasons to choose JetBlue. A key part of the EvenMore® transformation is making it easier for customers to find and book these enhanced options right from the start.”

While Mrs. ATX and I have been flying First Class more often recently thanks to a lap infant, I’m typically content in Economy. At 6’2″ however, extra legroom is one of the main things that I value (thank you Southwest for finally getting with the times) so having a bundle like this makes me more inclined to fly with JetBlue in the future.

Summary

JetBlue announced as part of its quarterly earnings report a change to its extra legroom seating option, Even More Space. Beginning in 2025, the product will be rebranded under the EvenMore name and bundled with some yet to be announced perks. While I can speculate as to what the perks will entail, we’ll have to wait and see what the full scope of the offering will be.
