JetBlue Announces New Service From Boston to Barcelona and Milan

JetBlue is continuing its transatlantic expansion, this time with two new routes from the carrier’s Boston focus city.

JetBlue Adds Flights to Milan and Barcelona in 2026

Beginning in the summer of 2026, JetBlue will launch daily, seasonal, service from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Flights to Barcelona will begin on April 16, 2026 and Milan service is set to begin on May 11, 2026.

Flights to Barcelona and Milan will operate using JetBlue’s Airbus A321 aircraft configured with lie-flat Mint Business Class suites and studios. Tickets for both flights will go on sale as of November 20, 2025.

JetBlue CEO Joanna Geraghty said this about the two new routes:

“As we expand our New England footprint with new service from Boston to Barcelona and Milan, we’re bringing more travelers the elevated service that has redefined transatlantic air travel, including our award-winning Mint premium experience. Customers flying to Europe with JetBlue enjoy the kind of thoughtful design, privacy, and hospitality they simply won’t find with legacy carriers, and we’re proud to continue delivering incredible value and style on both sides of the Atlantic.”

These two new routes build on JetBlue’s growing European network, which includes year-round service from Boston to London Heathrow (LHR), Paris (CDG), and Amsterdam (AMS), along with seasonal flights to Dublin (DUB), Edinburgh (EDI), London Gatwick (LGW), and Madrid (MAD).

My Thoughts

It’s interesting to see JetBlue expanding its transatlantic footprint with two new routes from Boston this summer. The carrier is undergoing quite the transformation with new lounges opening in New York and Boston in the coming weeks as well as its Blue Sky partnership with United.

Both of these routes will be going head to head against Delta, which announced an expansion of its Boston service earlier this year. Delta will serve Barcelona with daily flights while Milan will be served 4x weekly. It will be interesting to see if Delta responds to JetBlue’s announcement by increasing service on the Boston-Milan route or if it feels that Milan is well served via its other hubs.

I’m curious as to what the loads will be like for JetBlue’s flights and Delta definitely has a more comfortable hard product on the routes. Delta will operate both routes with widebody Airbus A330-900neo aircraft outfitted with 29 Delta One suites, 28 Premium Select seats, 56 Comfort+ seats, and 168 Main Cabin seats. The airline also operates a Delta One Lounge in Boston for passengers traveling in premium cabins.

Special thanks to Jerome for pointing out the competition from Delta on this route.

Summary

JetBlue is launching two new transatlantic routes from Boston for summer 2026. The airline is launching daily, seasonal, service to Milan and Barcelona using Airbus A321 aircraft equipped with its new Mint Business Class seats.
