Hyatt Opens New Thompson Palm Springs Hotel

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the opening of the Thompson Palm Springs today. The new property covers two and a half city blocks along Palm Canyon Drive in downtown. The property is the first collaboration between Hyatt and the Dallas based HALL Group.

Thompson Palm Springs features 168 guestrooms, including 18 suites. Each room features its own private balcony with views of the surrounding landscape. One of the more unique aspects of the property is the adults only tower, Upper Stories, that is scheduled to open later this year. This tower will feature 42 guestrooms with five of them being suites. There will also be a pool and lounge exclusive to Upper Stories guests. With the arrival of ATX Jr. this year, I won’t be staying in those rooms anytime soon.

The new property will feature three different dining concepts once everything has been completed. Currently, Lola Rose Grand Mezze, a Levantine-inspired restaurant from Executive Chef Quentin Garcia is the only dining establishment open on the property. Lola Rose overlooks the pool area with views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

The other two dining concepts, HALL Napa Valley Tasting Room and Bar Issi, will open over he next new months. The HALL Tasting Room will feature wines from Northern California vineyards when it opens later in 2024. Bar Issi will feature Mediterranean-inspired cuisine when it opens in 2025.

If the food scene isn’t your thing, the property offers a variety of additional amenities for its guests. This includes a collection of art from Craig and Kathryn Hall’s long-time partner Virginia Shore. The art is showcased through a variety of mediums including murals, sculptures, paintings and mixed-media pieces.

The property has multiple open-air spaces, taking advantage of the area’s year-round moderate climate. The lobby is open-air and has hallways lined with foliage guiding guests to their rooms.

This hotel, like many other Thompson properties, is quite expensive. Rooms start at $550 per night and are currently available for booking via the hotel’s website.

Summary

Hyatt’s Thompson brand has just opened its newest property in Palm Springs, California. In addition to your typical high-end hotel amenities, the property will feature an adults-only tower which comes with its own private pool. While all of the food and beverage options haven’t been opened yet, it may be worth it for some travelers to check it out before everything gets fully up and running.
