Hyatt Expands in New Orleans with Two New Hotels

Hyatt Hotels is expanding its presence in New Orleans as two new hotels, Maison Métier (formerly Maison de la Luz) and The Barnett (formerly Ace Hotel New Orleans), joining the portfolio as affiliated hotels. While both are affiliates for now, the press release notes that they are expected to join Hyatt’s Independent Collection of brands and participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program this year.

All of the Hyatt Independent Collection hotels feature, you guessed it, independent, one-of-a-kind properties in their brands and the guest experience. The two hotels are located just south (or upriver for the locals) of the French Quarter on Carondelet Street, one block from Lafayette Square.

It’s exciting to see Hyatt expand in New Orleans as the chain has a notoriously strong footprint. By my count, with the addition of the two new properties, Hyatt is up to 7 total properties for guests in the Greater New Orleans region, all of which are located in the Central Business District or the French Quarter. These new hotels will give Hyatt regulars two fun new options in New Orleans.

Mike Waddell, Hyatt’s Senior Vice President of Global Franchise Operations, had this to say about the addition of the new properties:

“Maison Métier and The Barnett highlight New Orleans’ vibrant culture, and we’re excited to expand our brand presence in this world-renowned city with these two remarkable hotels that are purposefully crafted to be a place of discovery and joy through food and beverage, art, music and beyond.”

Maison Métier, expected to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, is described in the press release as a Parisian luxury guesthouse that has been thoughtfully preserved in its architectural integrity and embodies the story of a bygone era married with contemporary finishes and furnishings. The hotel features 67 guestrooms and suites with well-appointed interiors. A salon-style bar, Bar Métier, is located within the hotel and offers culinary delights and creative cocktails.

The Barnett, expected to join JdV by Hyatt brand, is described in the release as bringing Art Deco and French Modernism influences to the vibrant Warehouse District in a way that celebrates the city’s past, and offers guests an authentic New Orleans experience, with musicality at its core featuring a live music venue. Updates to the hotel’s bars and restaurants will be unveiled this fall.

Once the hotels have officially joined their respective brands, World of Hyatt members will be able to earn points on their stays. While both properties are currently available for booking on the Hyatt website, they have the following disclaimer:

This hotel is not part of the World of Hyatt loyalty program at this time. The hotel is expected to participate in the World of Hyatt loyalty program at a later date this year.

Summary

Hyatt’s presence is expanding in New Orleans with the addition of two new properties. While the hotels are currently available for booking on the Hyatt website, guests are unable to earn World of Hyatt points until each property joins its respective brand. As a frequent visitor to the Big Easy, I love seeing more options for travelers in the city.
