Hilton Will Begin Charging Guests for Late Checkout Across All its Brands

Late checkout at Hilton properties just got more expensive. The company is planning to roll out standardized checkout pricing across all of its brands sometime in 2026. This is being done in an effort to drive revenue for hotel owners.

This change was first reported by Loyalty Lobby and pricing for late checkout will vary between $40-60 depending on the brand. Late checkout has also been quietly removed from the benefits posters for Hilton HHonors members.

Unlike Marriott and Hyatt, Hilton has never guaranteed late checkout, even for its top tier Diamond members. It has always been done on a space-available basis but I expect that the “space” won’t be there for many customers looking for a complimentary late checkout.

The upcoming late checkout pricing is broken down my brand below.

BrandRate
Hilton Garden Inn$40
Home2 Suites by Hilton$40
Homewood Suites by Hilton$40
Hampton Inn$40
Tru by Hilton$40
Tempo$40
LivSmart$40
Spark$40
Doubletree$50
Embassy Suites$50
Tapestry Collection by Hilton$50
Signia$50
Motto$50
Hilton$60
Canopy$60
Curio Collection$60
Conrad$60
LXR Hotels and Resorts$60
Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts$60

The prices listed above reflect pre-tax pricing so you can expect to pay roughly 10% more if you decide to add this to your stay.

Hilton HHonors elites don’t get guaranteed late checkout, even for top tier Diamond members.

Individual hotels will be able to control the number of late checkouts available for sale. This includes blocking certain days of the week, event dates, and changing the availability based on supply and demand at the property. Guests will have the ability to add late checkout from the time of booking up until 72 hours before the stay begins.

Personally, this is a very unfortunate development for Hilton loyalists. While the company has never guaranteed late checkout to its Hilton HHonors elite members like Hyatt and Marriott, I have never had an issue getting late checkout as a Diamond member unless the property was at capacity.

A few guests may see the ability to confirm late checkout as a perk, like a situation where you have a late flight, but I see this as a further erosion of benefits and a cash grab by the hotels. As one commentor on X put it, “if they’re going to charge me for late checkout, do I get a discount for late check-in?”

Summary

Hilton Hotels Corporation is preparing to roll out a new pricing chart for late checkout across all of its properties. Individual hotels can set availability parameters based on demand but, I’d expect to see the number of complimentary late checkouts plummet.

  1. I just had a nice stay at the Conrad Centennial, Singapore through AmEx FIne Hotels with a confirmed late check out extended an hotel to 5pm Score! I had a mid morning SQ Suites to FRA and spent the night in the Private Room nap room. Very nice!
