Back in 2024 Alaska Airlines announced its intent to merge with Hawaiian Airlines. While both airlines have retained their unique brands, all flights now operate under Alaska’s Air Operators Certificate (AOC). Now, the two carriers will further integrate with Hawaiian joining Alaska Airlines as a OneWorld alliance member in 2026.
Hawaiian Will Join OneWorld in April 2026
According to aviation insider xJonNYC, Hawaiian Airlines will officially join the OneWorld alliance on April 22, 2026. While the airlines currently operate under a single AOC, that is the same date that they will move to a single passenger service system and the “HA” flight code will officially be retired.
After years of stagnation in the airline alliance world, we’re seeing a ton of movement now. This is especially true of OneWorld which has added Fiji Airways and Oman Air as full fledged members over the last couple of years.
The addition of Hawaiian Airlines to the alliance is the latest, and logical next step, in the integration of the carrier and Alaska Airlines. The two integrated their loyalty programs earlier this year.

What This Means for Passengers
As I mentioned above, Alaska and Hawaiian use a combined loyalty program, known as Atmos Rewards. Because of this, Hawaiian frequent flyers can earn OneWorld perks as Alaska is part of the alliance.
What changes next year will have more of an impact on non-Atmos Rewards OneWorld members. With Hawaiian Airlines joining the alliance, members of other OneWorld frequent flyer programs will now be able to earn and redeem points as well as use elite benefits when flying with Hawaiian Airlines.

Summary
Hawaiian Airlines is officially joining the OneWorld alliance on April 22, 2026. While the implications of this are limited, as Hawaiian’s combined loyalty program with Alaska already provides OneWorld benefits, this will be welcome news for members of other OneWorld airline loyalty programs.
