Hyatt Hotels Corporation just opened the Grand Hyatt Kunming, marking the brand’s debut in China’s Yunnan province. The hotel is located in the Spring City 66 plaza, and co-located with the Grand Hyatt Residences Kunming, which provides guests with premium shopping, dining, and entertainment steps away from the hotel.
Stephen Ho, President Greater China and Growth, Asia Pacific at Hyatt Asia Pacific, had this to say about the opening of the new property:
“With its focus on delivering elevated experiences in iconic destinations, we are excited to announce introduction of the Grand Hyatt brand to the beautiful city of Kunming. This opening is a splendid addition to Hyatt’s luxury portfolio, and its central location provides guests the perfect opportunity to discover all that the city has to offer.”

The announcement touts the hotel’s location in the “Spring City”, a reference to its year round spring-like climate, and is only a few minutes away from the Yunnan International Convention Center, Tuodong Sports Stadium, and the DongFeng Square metro station. The hotel is a few stops on the metro from the Kunming Railway Station.
The new property features 331 guest rooms and suites, these rooms blend modern opulence with local touches, and have panoramic city views. Spacious corner rooms feature 270-degree views, while guests staying in Grand Club guestrooms can enjoy access to the Grand Club lounge and its exclusive privileges, including all-day refreshments, afternoon tea and evening cocktails.
The hotel features five distinct dining and drinking venues, offering modern gastronomy and classic and creative dishes. The hotel’s Grand Café presents an all-day “buffet brought to your table” concept focused on local and Italian cuisine, where guests can interact with the chefs as their dishes are cooked and served to order.
A Chinese restaurant, Yun Xiang, serves local cuisine with a modern twist alongside Cantonese delicacies and its signature wood-fired Peking Duck, and for special occasions, provides private dining rooms with butler service.
From breakfast to afternoon tea to craft cocktails, the Patine Lounge offers a relaxing place to unwind. Meanwhile, Altitude is a chic spot for an evening of sophisticated drinks and lively music, combining the art of mixology with local and Japanese flavors.
The property also features an 82-foot (25-meter) indoor pool, spa, and treatments rooted in the wisdom of Yunnan’s wellness traditions. The hotel’s fitness center is well equipped for a comprehensive workout and features a sauna and yoga studio.
