Expecting A Baby Soon? You Could Win 100,000 AAdvantage Miles

As a father to an almost one year old (my how time flies), this is a promotion that I find very cool. In honor of Frequent Flyer Day (they have a day for everything now), American Airlines is giving 100,000 AAdvantage miles to the first baby born on May 1, 2025.

American Airlines is offering 100,000 AAdvantage miles to the first child born on National Frequent Flyer Day.

According to the airline, Frequent Flyer Day honors the most loyal travelers who fly around the world. May 1 celebrates the 44th year American customers have been able to earn and redeem miles in the world’s first frequent flyer program launched by a mainline carrier.

So, to celebrate, the airline is making it easy for parents with a baby born on May 1, 2025 to enter to win 100,000 AAdvantage miles. All parents have to do is post photos of their new child on X/Twitter with the exact time of birth (including time zone), tag @AmericanAir, and use the hashtags #AAdvantage, #FrequentFlyerDay and #promotion.

Upon verification of the information provided in the post, the winning baby will have 100,000 AAdvantage miles deposited into a newly opened AAdvantage member account.

According to the terms and conditions, this offer is only available to children born in the United States and all births will be adjusted to the Central Time Zone.

Scott Long, American’s SVP of AAdvantage, had this to say about the promotion:

“Before even taking their first step, the first baby born on Frequent Flyer Day is ready to travel the world with the gift of 100,000 AAdvantage® miles. We are excited to expand our AAdvantage® family with the addition of this little one into our program as we celebrate the millions of members making a lifetime of family memories with American across the world.”

While I doubt anyone will be timing the birth of their child to directly correspond with the terms of this offer, this is a fun promotion for the airline and families. Partner redemptions using AAdvantage miles have quite a few great use cases that I’m sure can be put to good use by the winning family.

Summary

American Airlines is giving away 100,000 AAdvantage miles to the first baby born on National Frequent Flyer Day. Entry to the contest is simple, just post photos of your new bundle of joy on X/Twitter, tag American Airlines, and use the hashtags #AAdvantage, #FrequentFlyerDay and #promotion to be entered to win.

  1. The rules are confusing. It is the first baby born in the US with the time adjusted to central time. However, there is no stated deadline to enter. They should say that entries submitted by May 7th are accepted.

    1. Agree, it’s interesting that they didn’t put an end time on submissions. I’m also curious as to how the calibrations will work. Will a child born at 12:01a in New York not count?
