Etihad Airways is Offering Five Million Miles to One Frequent Flyer

Its promotions like this that make me wish I was a full time travel blogger with endless time and resources. Unfortunately, I’m not, but, one lucky Etihad Guest member will take home 5,000,000 Etihad Guest miles after completing one of the wildest challenges we’ve seen from an airline.

Etihad is Offering a Major Miles Giveaway

While SAS’s Million Mile EuroBonus promotion got plenty of coverage, Etihad’s most recent promotion is on a different level. One lucky member will earn 5 million bonus miles after flying to all fifteen of the Abu Dhabi based carrier’s new routes. Specifically, Etihad Guest members will need to fly to or from the following destinations:

  • Addis Ababa
  • Algiers
  • Atlanta
  • Chiang Mai
  • Hanoi
  • Hong Kong
  • Krabi
  • Medan
  • Peshawar
  • Phnom Penh
  • Prague
  • Sochi
  • Taipei
  • Tunis
  • Warsaw

Unlike a standard giveaway where participants enter and are subject to the luck of the draw, time is of the essence here as Etihad is offering the 5,000,000 miles to the first passenger to fly to all 15 destinations. The second and third place finishers, based on completion date, will receive 3,000,000 and 1,000,000 miles respectively.

According to the carrier, 5,000,000 miles are enough to cover the costs of over 500 Economy flights, more than 70 trips in Business Class, or more than 40 journeys in Etihad First Class. Passengers interested in competing in this challenge must be members of the Etihad Guest program (you can sign up for a new account to participate) and register online at this link.

How Will the Carrier Handle Ties?

According to Etihad, the promotion is open through May 26, 2025. Based on the adoption of the SAS promotion, I think it is not even possible, but likely, that multiple frequent flyers complete the challenge at the same time.

Some of the destinations outlined in the challenge are on sale but have not yet started operating. This will lead to a scenario where multiple passengers are all waiting on a final inaugural flight in order to complete the challenge.

According to the terms and conditions, the winner will be determined based on which passenger has flown to all Required Destinations in the shortest cumulative time AND was enrolled as participant to the competition for the longest period of time.

Basically, the earlier you sign up for the challenge, which opened on May 26, 2025, and the faster you can complete all cities on the challenge, the higher your ranking will be. If you’re interested in chasing the prize, sign up ASAP and aim to complete all of your travels as close to the final inaugural flight as possible. I’m sure that a few aspirational folks will be able to fly all 15 routes in a span of a few weeks.

Summary

Etihad is offering 5 million Etihad Guest miles to the first person to fly to all 15 of the carrier’s new destinations for 2025. With some routes yet to begin service, the winner will likely come down to who can consolidate all of their flying as close as possible to the date of the final flight.

If you’re crazy enough to attempt this challenge, my hat is off to you and please document the adventure for those of us who will be watching from the house.
