Emirates is Restarting Airbus A380 Service to Copenhagen (CPH)

Emirates announced today that it has reintroduced the Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger jet, on its route between Dubai (DXB) and Copenhagen (CPH). It marks the first time the Dubai based carrier has used the A380 on the route since March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic brought air travel to a standstill.

With the resumption of service, Emirates is the only airline to operate the Airbus A380 to Denmark. It is also the only airline operating between Copenhagen and Dubai. Emirates is using a high-density A380 on the route featuring 58 Business Class seats and a whopping 557 Economy seats. The A380 is replacing the Boeing 777-300ER on the route.

This is an upgrade for passengers as Emirates had been operating its high density Boeing 777-300ER’s on the route which features 2-3-2 seating in Business Class instead of the new cabins. The A380 has direct aisle access for Business Class passengers and features the famous Emirates onboard bar.

Morten Balk, Emirates’ Country Manager in Denmark, had this to say about the resumption of A380 service to Copenhagen:

We are incredibly proud to finally bring back the Emirates A380 to Copenhagen – what a sight to see it gracing our runway again! We look forward to once again offering our customers unparalleled travel experiences and the signature products and services our A380 is known for. With more than 43 percent additional seating, more customers will now be able to enjoy greater flexibility and more travel options, to over 140 destinations worldwide via our home and hub, Dubai.”

The flight from Copenhagen is timed to allow Danish customers to connect onwards to more than 140 destinations including Bali, Mauritius and South Africa. The flights are operating on the following schedule:

EK151 DXB-CPH Departs: 8:30a Arrives: 12:30p
EK152 CPH-DXB Departs: 2:45p Arrives: 12:10a (+1)

615 seats is a ton of capacity for an airplane but the switch back to the Airbus A380 should be a positive change for passengers. I’ve, unfortunately, only flown a single trip on the A380 but found it to be a nice, smooth ride.
