Emirates Airline is getting into the Christmas spirit with traditional treats and festive fare available across its network of lounges and onboard select flights.
The holiday spirit gets started on the ground with a select holiday food offerings in First and Business Class lounges in Dubai that includes roasted turkey with jus and cranberry sauce, glazed chestnuts, root vegetables, brussels sprouts and new potatoes. The carrier has curated special wines, drinks, and desserts to support the festive environment.
The airline’s lounges across the globe will also be decked out with festive fare – from lobster bisque and roasted rib-eye beef in San Francisco and LA, to grilled Norwegian salmon with creamy citrus velouté in Cape Town, roasted duck with red cabbage and caramelized apple wedges in Hamburg, to ballotine of guinea fowl stuffed with date and forest sauce in Paris.
Emirates Brings Christmas to the Skies
To celebrate Christmas, Emirates is introducing some special wines across all cabins this December. In First Class, Château Mouton Rothschild 2003 from the Emirates Vintage Collection will be available to customers travelling on routes from Dubai to the UK and USA. On the same First Class routes, Emirates will also be serving another exclusive and extremely rare vintage of champagne, Dom Pérignon Plenitude 2, 2004. Across other classes, Emirates customers can enjoy other premium wines with new additions on various routes.
On the onboard dining front, between December 14-26th, customers in all classes will be offered hot chocolate with various topping options. On the days immediately surrounding and including Christmas, December 24-26th, special giveaways will be offered to passengers. Economy Class passengers will recieve dark chocolate truffles, Premium Economy and Business Class passengers will be treated to gingerbread cookies, and First Class passengers will be offered a raspberry Paris-Brest pastry.
Appetizers, main courses, and desserts will also be adjusted to celebrate the holidays. In the A380 Onboard Lounge, snacks and sandwiches will be available with a Christmas twist.
Orthodox Christmas Cheer
On flights between Russia, Cyprus, Ethiopia and Dubai, Emirates will celebrate Orthodox Christmas between December 24th and January 8th. First and Business Class customers will be offered dishes like Olivier salad, smoked salmon with crab mayonnaise, truffle potato gratin, and herb-crusted lamb shank. Desserts will include items like white chocolate and peppermint mousse and chocolate gingerbread cake.
In Economy Class, starters like Russian potato salad and Waldorf salad will be followed by a main course of barbecued chicken or a cream beef stroganoff. The meal service will be finished off with desserts of peppermint mousse with popping candy and a candy cane, or traditional fruit cake.
Emirates Adds More Christmas Movies to ICE
All of these Christmas dishes wouldn’t be complete without a large selection of movies. Thankfully, Emirates has loaded 42 holiday movies onto its ICE in-flight entertainment system. This includes The Polar Express and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Additional Christmas entertainment is also available via TV shows and audio options.
Summary
I love to see Emirates getting into the holiday spirit with some special Christmas offerings. While I haven’t yet had the opportunity to fly with them, I do appreciate the lengths that they go to to celebrate holidays and special events. While the items listed above likely won’t sway anyone towards the carrier, it goes to show the attention to detail that Emirates is known for.
