DoorDash Driver Cruises Down Taxiways

The incident occurred around noon on Saturday May 17, 2025 when a 36 year old male working for the delivery service DoorDash entered the secured area at Chicago O’Hare. The delivery driver reportedly drove miles around the airport before he was spotted by someone in the control tower.

Once it was determined that he was not authorized to be inside of the secured area, law enforcement at the airport quickly made contact with him. According to police, the driver entered the airport grounds by accident (I’m sure a follow up investigation is in the works to determine exactly how this happened) and deemed the incident a simple mistake with no charges or citations issued.

Where Was He Trying to Go?

I have so many questions about this incident. The first one is how in the world did this guy manage to not only get inside of the secured area, but drive around for quite some time without being spotted.

Second, where in the world was he trying to go? I can’t imagine that any mapping application would provide a driver turn by turn directions through one of the busiest airports in the world. However, he may have been trying to deliver food to one of the United Airlines flights that has been having catering issues over the past few weeks.

Finally, if the driver did end up getting through the secure perimeter by accident, common sense should have made him realize that he was in the wrong place when aircraft started driving past him.

Thankfully, this seemed to be a wild and crazy accident with no ill-intent from the driver. By all accounts, nobody was injured in this incident and no property damage occurred. I’m sure law enforcement will have a full review of the airport’s security protocols and this DoorDash driver will have one heck of a story to tell.

Summary

A DoorDash driver will have quite the story to tell after he accidentally ended up inside of the secure area at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. The driver was on property for quite some time, and may have even crossed a runway, before being spotted by someone in the control tower. Law enforcement quickly engaged the driver who was not charged in the incident.

  1. More than likely the driver piggybacked through a controlled access gate. The SIDA holder did not do their due diligence making sure the gate closed prior to leaving. They will more than likely be terminated. While the driver was not arrested or charged they will more than likely be issued a hefty fine by TSA as will ORD for allowing this to occur.
