Delta Partners With Shake Shack to Serve Burgers Onboard

Delta Air Lines has announced a new partnership with Shake Shack to serve passengers burgers on board. The Atlanta based carrier’s partnership with the burger brand will kick off December 1st, 2024 on flights from its hub at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

Passengers sitting in First Class on flights over 900 miles will be able to select a Shake Shack cheeseburger as their meal option prior to departure. Passengers can make and edit their meal selection up to 24 hours in advance using the Fly Delta app or online, starting seven days before departure.

The carrier plans to roll this offering out to other flights throughout 2025. Stephanie Laster, Delta’s Managing Director of Onboard Service, had this to say about the partnership with Shake Shack:

“A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food – our customers know that which is why burgers are one of the top ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack. However, our partnership with Shake Shack goes beyond the burger. Shake Shack’s people-first culture and commitment to enriching their neighborhoods are spot on with our own brand values of service excellence and helping the communities we serve.”

As someone who loves a good cheeseburger, I’m excited to see this partnership. I’m cautiously optimistic that the fact a major burger brand is putting their name on the offering means that the onboard burger will be well above average. Also, since the cheeseburger has to be pre-ordered, I’m hopeful that they will be served as fresh as possible. Having eaten burgers on many airlines, from United to KLM, I can confidently say that good burgers can be served, though they often miss the mark.
