Delta Opens a Beautiful New Sky Club in Salt Lake City (SLC)

Delta Air Lines has been investing heavily in its lounge experience over the past few years and the Atlanta based carrier just opened its newest, and one of its largest, Sky Clubs. The new lounge is located at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and will more than double Delta’s lounge capacity at the mountain west hub.

Delta Sky Club Salt Lake City Concourse B Location and Entry Requirements

Delta’s newest Sky Club is located in Concourse B at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). The lounge is located near the exit of the tunnel that connects Concourses A and B. The lounge is open between 5:45a and 10:30p daily, covering virtually all of the carrier’s departures from the airport.

The entry requirements for Delta Sky Clubs are some of the most complex ones out there. The easiest way to enter the lounge is by using a qualifying American Express credit card (including the AmEx Platinum and Delta Reserve cards) or by having a Sky Club membership and a same day Delta boarding pass.

Currently, Delta and American Express cardholders who don’t hit $75,000 in spend during a calendar year will be limited on the number of entries per year in an effort to reduce crowding. You can find the full list of entry requirements here.

Delta Sky Club Salt Lake City Concourse B Overview

The new Sky Club in Concourse B measures a whopping 33,960 square feet, making it the second largest club in the Delta network behind the Sky Club at LaGuardia Airport. The new York-LaGuardia club comes in slightly higher at 34,800 square feet.

The club has seating for 600 guests and compliments the Concourse A Sky Club which measures in at 28,000 square feet (this was the largest club in the network when it opened in 2020).

According to Delta, the new club is intended to “elevate the travel experience” and “pays homage to Utah’s natural beauty through a thoughtfully curated design.” The lounge has panoramic views of the airfield through floor to ceiling glass windows along with “curated amenities for business and leisure travelers alike.”

Here’s how Claude Roussel, Vice President for Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience, described the space:

“Salt Lake City continues to be a key hub in our network, and opening our second Delta Sky Club at the airport reflects our deepening commitment to the market. This space was designed with direct input from our customers—what they love, what they need and how they want to feel when they travel. From the seating layout to the food and beverage offerings, every detail was crafted to deliver an elevated experience that makes the lounge feel like a home away from home.”

The lounge is equipped with a wrap-around bar area, nine soundproof telephone booths, two beverage stations, and a digital immersion wall which “surrounds guests with panoramic visuals of Utah’s iconic landmarks, paired with nature sounds for a calming, 4D experience.”

The lounge is fairly open concept and has plenty of seating for guests. For the most part the seating appears to consist of large booths and other communal style seats, though there are small dividers which help break up the space.

The furnishings appear warm and inviting, and this is further amplified with the large fireplace in the center of the space. The lounge gives off a ski lodge feel with the mountains visible over the airfield.

On the food and beverage front, Delta has installed a large, wraparound bar in the new lounge. The bar has seating for 18 guests and will offer beer, wine, and spirits. Premium options will be available for an additional charge.

In addition to the two beverage stations, Delta included a “Dirty Soda” bar in the lounge which will be unique to this location. For those of you that aren’t familiar, dirty soda is a drink consisting of soda “spiked” with cream, flavored syrups and/or fruit juices. They are very popular in Utah as a large portion of the population abstains from alcohol and caffeine.

On the food front, you can expect to find your standard Sky Club fare which includes fresh salads, sandwiches, and locally inspired hot and cold dishes.

My Thoughts

While it has been a couple of years since I last connected through Salt Lake City, I’m extremely impressed with Delta’s operation at the airport. Though the airfield is the same, the terminal complex has been completely rebuilt from the ground up, which allows the airline the opportunity to build out these spaces to their specifications.

The original Sky Club in Concourse A has been one of my favorites in the system and I’m looking forward to my next trip through the airport to check out the new Sky Club in Concourse B and the recently opened American Express Centurion Lounge.

Summary

Delta Air Lines has unveiled a brand new Sky Club located in Concourse B at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). The new club spans 34,000 square feet and is the second largest lounge in the Delta system. This is sure to be a popular lounge for travelers as the airline continues to grow its mountain west hub.
