The Airbus A350-900 is still wearing a temporary French registration from Airbus but, based on the markings on the tail, it will be Ship number 3527. While this is the first time the plane has been officially unveiled by the airline, eagle eyed plane spotters identified the livery on an Airbus A321neo at the Airbus assembly plant in Toulouse late last year. The A321neo was also unveiled at the event and is registered as N589DT.

Delta hosted over 1,000 guests at its newly remodeled Delta Flight Museum to mark the moment of the airline’s Centennial (my invite must have gotten lost in the mail I’m sure).

In addition to unveiling the new aircraft, attendees heard remarks from Delta CEO Ed Bastian along with live entertainment from Jon Batiste and the Vitamin String Quartet.

According to the airline, guests included Delta employees and retirees, sponsors and donors that helped fund the Flight Museum renovation, friends and strategic partners of Delta, customers, investors and former Delta leaders – including former CEOs Ron Allen, Leo Mullin and Richard Anderson.

While we regularly see special airlines flying with many of the major U.S. carriers like Alaska, American, JetBlue, and Southwest. Delta and United are typically more reserved in that department, Delta especially. It’s fun to see the airline celebrate 100 years of flying with these liveries and I hope to have the opportunity to catch one during my upcoming travels.

Summary

While we’ve known these were coming for some time, Delta has officially unveiled a special livery celebrating its Centennial. The scheme appears on two aircraft, an Airbus A321neo and an Airbus A350, which will be crisscrossing the Delta network in the weeks and months to come.
