Delta Air Lines is launching flights between its hub at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). The new route will operate 1x weekly using a Boeing 737-900ER.
The new route is a resumption of service for the airline which last operated between Los Angeles and Anchorage in 2021. Kudos to aviation route expert IshrionA for flagging this.
Flights are scheduled to begin on May 24, 2025 and will operate on Saturdays only. The route is currently on sale via Delta.com but, for whatever reason, the airline has only loaded First Class fares on the route as of this writing. Flights are blocked at 5 hours and 45 minutes northbound and 5 hours and 10 minutes southbound. Flights will operate on the following schedule:
Flight | Departs | Arrives |
---|---|---|
DL 487 (LAX-ANC) | 9:00a | 1:45p |
DL 487 (ANC-LAX) | 2:45p | 8:55p |
Delta will compete directly with Alaska Airlines on the route, though the timing of the two flights are complete opposites. Alaska’s flights essentially operate as redeyes in both directions.
Summary
Delta is launching weekly, Saturday only, service between its hub at Los Angeles International Airport and Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. Delta will compete head to head with Alaska Airlines on the route though, in my opinion, the timing of the service favors Delta.
