Delta is Introducing Taittinger Champagne for Delta One Passengers

Delta Air Lines is currently celebrating its 100th birthday and it is rolling out a special service offering to celebrate. The Atlanta based carrier will introduce Taittinger champagne in its Delta One cabin this spring.

The Taittinger champagne on offer will be the Taittinger Brut La Francaise. This bottle retails for $50-70 on the ground and seems like an upgrade for Delta One passengers.

Kristen Manion Taylor, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Inflight Service, had this to say about the rollout:

“At Delta, we are never satisfied with the status-quo. Our teams are consistently pushing, testing and elevating our offerings with the goal of providing a best-in-class onboard experience. We are always working to surpass our own high standards. Similarly, Taittinger is known for having the highest-quality production, exceeding minimum aging requirements and embodying sustainable practices in addition to creating excellent Champagne.”

According to the airline’s press release, Taittinger will be presented on the Delta One bar cart and offered as a pre-meal beverage on international flights. It will also be available throughout the flight for Delta One passengers. As part of this partnership, Delta has developed meal parings that will compliment the new onboard bubbly.

As part of this collaboration, Andrea Robinson, Master Sommelier and consultant for Delta, said:

“Delta’s wine program is industry-leading – from partnering with renowned brands to highlighting little-known gems of the wine world, their creativity and commitment to an exceptional in-flight experience is second to none.”

I don’t necessarily agree with that statement as I have flown on multiple carriers pouring better champagne but, I do respect the fact that Delta is upgrading its onboard offerings.

Summary

Delta Air Lines is rolling out Taittinger champagne in Delta One Business Class later this spring. This is part of the airline’s 100th birthday celebration and, while I don’t think travelers will go out of their way to book based on the champagne, it represents a great upgrade for passengers from its current offerings.
