Another month, another route announcement from Delta in Austin. After announcing five new routes for 2025 back in September, the Atlanta based carrier is growing in the Texas capital once again. This time, Delta is adding a new route between Austin and Jacksonville, Florida.
As first reported by Airline Geeks, Delta will launch daily service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) on May 7, 2025. The flights will be operated by Delta Connection partner SkyWest which recently opened a crew base in Austin to support Delta’s expansion.
SkyWest will operate Embraer E175 regional jet aircraft on the Austin-Jacksonville route. The flights will operate on the following schedule:
Austin (AUS) to Jacksonville (JAX)
Departs: 8:55a Arrives: 12:35p
Jacksonville (JAX) to Austin (AUS)
Departs: 1:15p Arrives: 3:00p
Delta’s growth in Austin comes on the heels of American’s retreat. American has cut service from roughly 40 destinations at its peak down to only 10. The Austin to Jacksonville route was one of the routes previously operated by American though it was dropped earlier this year.
American used to be the second largest airline at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) though Delta is expected to jump into that spot for 2025. This expansion comes years after Delta tabbed Austin as a focus city and opened a massive Sky Club at the airport. The airline is also expected to move into a new, larger space once expansion projects at the airport are completed.
Summary
Delta is obviously seeing something that it likes in the Austin market as the carrier has announced a sixth new destination scheduled to launch in 2025. Regional partner SkyWest will link Austin and Jacksonville beginning on May 7, 2025 with daily service using Embraer E175 regional jets.
