Courtyard by Marriott Opens in Sapporo

Marriott International announced the opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo in Sapporo City, the capital of Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido. The 321 room hotel becomes the 8th Courtyard in Japan and the first on Hokkaido.

Sapporo is a popular tourist destination known for its snow-capped mountains, miso ramen, Sapporo beer, and the annual Sapporo Snow Festival. The new hotel joins the only other Marriott property in the city, the Fairfield by Marriott Sapporo. There are a few other Marriott properties in the surrounding area, including the The Westin Rusutsu Resort and the Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which is one of only a handful of the uber-upscale Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties in the world.

Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo Amenities

The hotel features two on site dining options that showcase local culinary traditions infused with an international flair. THE LOUNGE is geared towards light bites and refreshments while Substance, the all-day dining restaurant with a semi-open kitchen serves an array of local and international menu choices.

The property also features a fitness center with a unique, local twist. The Japanese Spa is equipped with a modern Japanese-style bath, which is a perfect way to unwind after a long day of skiing or sightseeing.

The hotel’s design is reflective of “he rich culture and history unique to Hokkaido” and reflects “a theme of harmony between nature and urban living”. All of the 321 guest rooms and suites have been designed to support the needs of guest with a variety of natural textures and accent features.

All rooms at the property are are furnished with Serta beds and features complimentary Wi-Fi. Guest rooms located on higher floors have great views of the surrounding area. However, since it is Japan, the rooms are much smaller than what you would find at a Courtyard in the United States.

Summary

MArriott International has opened its newest property in Japan with the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Sapporo. The new hotel is the first Courtyard on the northern island of Hokkaido and the second Marriott property in the city after the Fairfield by Marriott Sapporo.
