Is Cayman Airways Launching Flights to Austin?

Austin Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) has seen significant growth in recent years and now it looks like a new carrier will begin service to Central Texas in 2026.

Cayman Airways is Reportedly Adding Austin Flights

According to multiple airport employees and insiders, Cayman Airways, the flag Carrier of the Cayman Islands, is preparing to launch service between Austin and Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.

Cayman Airways is preparing to launch service to Austin in 2026.

While nothing has been officially announced, the airline will reportedly begin 1x weekly service between the two cities on May 30, 2026 using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft outfitted with 16 First Class and 144 Economy seats.

This would be quite an interesting addition for Austin as the flight would rely almost exclusively on O&D traffic as the carrier doesn’t have any onward connecting partners in Austin, aside from an Interline agreement with Air Canada and Copa Airlines.

Austin has shown that it has a huge appetite for new service, even as the current terminal complex is bursting at the seams. A new 20+ gate addition is currently in the works and is expected to be completed sometime in the 2030s.

About Cayman Airways

Cayman Airways, the flag carrier of the British Overseas territory of the Cayman Islands, is a small, quirky airline that operates a fleet of just four Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. It’s regional subsidiary operates a fleet of five turboprop aircraft, three de Haviland Canada CHC-6s and two Saab 340s, under the Cayman Airways Express brand.

The carrier has one of the coolest frequent flyer program names out there, known as Sir Turtle Rewards, named after the company mascot, but it doesn’t have much available in the form of partner airlines.

Currently Cayman Airways flies to five cities in the United States. It operates year round service to Los Angeles (LAX), Miami, (MIA), New York (JFK), and Tampa (TPA) along with seasonal service to Denver (DEN). Austin service is expected to be year round, but that is subject to change.

Summary

Cayman Airways is reportedly launching service to Austin as of May 30, 2026. Flights will operate 1x weekly using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft outfitted in a two cabin configuration with First Class and Economy seating.
