Cathay Pacific is launching flights between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW). The new service, scheduled to begin on April 24th, 2025, will be the airline’s sixth destination in the United States and eighth in North America.
Cathay Pacific’s new service to Hong Kong is the latest route to DFW . The Fort Worth based carrier operates its largest hub at the airport which will be used to provide connectivity on both ends for the DFW-HKG route.
Based on the airline’s announcement, passengers will be able to connect onwards to over 190 domestic destinations in the United States, as well as 11 destinations in Central and South America.
The route will operate 4x weekly utilizing Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on the following schedule:
Hong Kong (HKG) to Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW)
CX 898 Departs: 4:05p Arrives: 5:55p
Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) to Hong Kong (HKG)
CX 897 Departs: 11:55p Arrives: 5:05a (+2)
The flight is scheduled to operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and is currently available for booking.
This is the second major international announcement at DFW Airport after Fiji Airways announced that it would launch 3x weekly flights between North Texas and Nadi International Airport (NAN). Fiji Airways is also in the process of joining OneWorld and will use American for connectivity in DFW.
Both announcements come amid a major expansion project at Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport. The airport is in the process of adding 39 new gates including the construction of the 15 gate Terminal F. This will provide some much needed capacity at the airport.
Summary
As a former North Texas resident it is exciting to see Cathay Pacific add passenger service between Hong Kong and Dallas/Ft. Worth. The new route should have plenty of feed and I’m hoping it’s successful as Cathay Pacific is near the top of my list for Business Class products that I want to try. With the DFW flights, maybe I’ll get the chance sooner than I thought!

I’d like to see more award space released for premium cabins on this route since it is going into a major AA hub.
