A new beverage option is joining the American Airlines fleet as the Fort Worth based carrier is adding tequila to its inflight menu.

American Airlines Will Serve Socorro Tequila Onboard
Beginning June 1, 2025, the airline will begin offering tequila on select flights as an inflight alcoholic beverage option for eligible customers. American has partnered with Socorro Tequila, a brand based out of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to supply the onboard tequila.
While the tequila will first be rolled out on select flights, the carrier expects to have tequila available onboard all American Airlines flights by the end of June.
According to the press release, Socorro Tequila is crafted in the highlands of Jalisco using traditional methods and 100% Blue Weber agave. It delivers a premium flavor that will elevate the passenger experience at 35,000 feet.

The addition of tequila to the airline’s onboard menu is the latest in its ongoing efforts to reinvigorate the customer experience across all touchpoints of the travel journey.
American Improves Its Premium Cabin and Buy-on-Board Options
Tequila aside, American is also improving its premium cabin snack baskets and adding more buy-on-board menu options for passengers. The airline has added a midday snack basket to compliment its existing Morning and Evening baskets.
Beginning June 11, 2025, the three snack baskets will contain the following options:
- Morning snack basket: Fresh clementine, B’cuz Cherry Pistachio Granola Bites, Think Jerky Free-Range Turkey Stick, Blake’s Seed-Based Breakfast Bar +Protein, Bare Organic Apple Chips and Wonderful Sea Salt & Pepper Pistachios
- Midday snack basket: Tate’s Chocolate Chip Cookies, Garrett White Cheddar Popcorn, Cooper’s Cheese Straws, Cooper Street Granola Bakes, BobbySue’s Nuts Everything Goes Nuts and Think Jerky Grass-Fed Beef Stick
- Afternoon snack basket: Homefree Vanilla Mini Cookies; Miss Vickie’s Sea Salt Chips; Over Easy Almond & Raisins Oat Bar; CauliPuffs White Cheddar Corn, Rice and Cauliflower Puffed Snack; Wonderful Sea Salt & Pepper Pistachios; and Think Jerky Grass-Fed Beef Stick
Also, starting June 1, 2025, Main Cabin passengers will have three new buy-on-board options added to the inflight menu. They are as follows:
- A hearty steak and pimento cheese sandwich, bringing bold Southern flavor to the skies
- Tray table tapas, featuring olives, dried apricots, beef jerky, pistachio, white cheddar dip, pita chips and brownie brittle — perfect for customers who prefer a shareable, snackable experience
- Brooklyn Biltong Steakhouse Air Dried Beef Jerky, a satisfying, high-protein option ideal for longer flights or quick bites

Summary
While I’m not a huge tequila drinker, I know Mrs. ATX is happy to see American Airlines begin offering the spirit onboard. The carrier has selected Socorro Tequila as its onboard beverage of choice which will make its debut on June 1, 2025. The airline has also beefed up its buy-on-board menu in an effort to pivot towards more premium options.
