American Airlines unveiled its summer 2025 schedule which is highlighted by five new routes to Europe. The Fort Worth based carrier is growing its transatlantic service by launching new routes to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI), Athens, Greece (ATH); Madrid (MAD); Milan (MXP) and Rome (FCO).
American is returning to Edinburgh, Scotland for the first time since 2019 as well as connecting cities in Italy, Spain, and Greece with more American hubs. Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, had this to say about the new routes:
“We look forward to providing customers more ways to visit their favorite destinations in Europe next summer. Resuming service to Edinburgh and adding new routes to other popular destinations across the continent will offer customers convenient access from American’s industry-leading domestic network to all that Europe has to offer.”

Summary
American has just released its schedule for summer 2025. The carrier is making a major expansion to its international flying with the launch of five new routes and additional frequencies and upgraded service on eight more.
These new routes mark a shift for the carrier as they have ceded international flying to partners in prior years and have focused on its domestic network instead. American seems to still be searching for a corporate identity but it is nice to see them refocus on their global route network.
What are your thoughts on American’s announcement?
Very sad not having anymore direct fly Mxp-Mia .And i wish Aa could offer MXP-CLT as well.
When will there be flights to Poland?
