This announcement comes two months after the airline announced five new routes to Europe, and the expansion of eight more, as it continues to bolster its transatlantic route network. Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, had this to say about the new routes:

“As Italy continues to remain popular for summertime travel, American is making it easier than ever for customers to shop, dine or unwind in their favorite destinations. Whether reveling in the history of Rome or relaxing on a beach on the Mediterranean, American’s network will offer more ways for customers to plan their perfect itinerary.”

Chicago-O’Hare (ORD) to Naples (NAP)

American will build on its existing service between Philadelphia (PHL) and Naples by becoming the only airline flying nonstop between Chicago and Naples in 2025. American plans to offer more seats to Naples than any other U.S. airline, giving customers access to the gateway to the Amalfi Coast. Flights are slated to begin on May 6th utilizing Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) to Venice (VCE)

American will offer its first-ever nonstop flight from Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) to Venice beginning on June 5. This flight will compliment existing service between Philadelphia (PHL) and Venice. The new route will allow one-stop connecting itineraries to Venice from more than 230 destinations thanks to its DFW and PHL hubs. The DFW-VCE route will operate using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.

American will use its Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW) superhub to feed its new flight to Rome (FCO).

Miami (MIA) to Rome (FCO)

Rome also becomes easier to reach as American is adding a daily flight between Miami (MIA) and Rome (FCO) using Boeing 777-200 aircraft. This route was initially announced in September but has been moved up from July to June 5. With this addition, American will operate flights from Rome to more destinations in the United States than any other U.S. airline.

In addition to the new route between Miami and Rome, American will add a second daily Summer frequency on its Philadelphia (PHL) to Rome route, complimenting the existing, year-round service, beginning on June 5.

Tickets for the new routes and frequencies will go on sale November 4th via AA.com.

Summary

American Airlines is launching three new routes to Italy for the summer travel season. Passengers will have more options to fly American to and from Naples, Venice, and Rome as the carrier will operate its largest Italian schedule ever.
