Alaska Airlines has opened the carriers newest lounge, and its largest lounge in California, in Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The opening of the new lounge was teased when Alaska moved into its new home at the Harvey Milk Terminal.
The airline is clearly excited about the new space, Sangita Woerner, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Guest Experience at Alaska Airlines, said this about the new space:
“Today’s unveiling of our elegantly designed Lounge at SFO represents the culmination of over two years of dedicated commitment to enhance the way we care for our guests. Our Lounges redefine the premium travel experience, providing top-tier amenities and ample space to escape the hustle and bustle of the airport, whether you’re traveling with Alaska or our oneworld and global airline partners.”

The lounge has been designed to give guests a West Coast experience and features a barista station with handcrafted espresso beverages along with a complimentary bar serving local craft brews and West Coast wines.
On the food front, the lounge features Alaska’s popular sourdough bread and spreads along with a full buffet,jars of candy featuring local sweets and alaska’s famous pancake machine. The airline notes that the pancake machine is so popular that they installed two in the lounge.
In addition to being the carrier’s largest lounge in California, the new Alaska Lounge is 55% larger than the old lounge in San Francisco. The photos from the release showcase a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows which provide expansive views of the ramp below. This will definitely be a popular place for avgeeks and plane spotters.
In addition to the seats along the windows, which is where you’ll find me, the airline has installed a variety of different seating in the lounge. These include dining tables and booths, the airline’s signature lounge chairs and, for travelers needing to take a quick call or meeting without disturbing others, TalkBox booths have been installed.
While I don’t make it out to SFO very often, and typically visit The American Express Centurion Lounge when I do, the Alaska Lounge looks like a nice, inviting space that I’m tempted to check out during my next visit.

Alaska Airlines has opened the final piece of its gorgeous new home in San Francisco’s Harvey Milk Terminal. The new Alaska Lounge is the larges in California and marks a major upgrade from the carrier’s old lounge in Terminal 2.
