Air France, KLM, and SAS announced the signing of codeshare and interline agreements between the three carriers. Both agreements will activate on September 1st, 2024, when SAS officially joins the SkyTeam alliance.

Air France, KLM, and SAS have entered into codeshare and interline agreements as SAS prepares to join SkyTeam.

A variety of European destinations will be included under the agreement. Air France and KLM customers will have access to 33 destinations in Scandinavia and Northern Europe from SAS’ Copenhagen (CPH) , Oslo (OSL), and Stockholm (ARN) hubs.

SAS customers will have access to 33 destinations throughout Europe via Air France’s Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) hub and KLM’s hub at Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS). Intercontinental destinations are expected to be added to the codeshare at a later date (as SAS will likely join the transatlantic joint venture between Air France, Delta, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic).

The interline agreement will cover the complete European network for all three carriers.

Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, had this to say about the new codeshare and interline agreements:

“We are proud to launch codeshare flights with our future SkyTeam partner Air France-KLM today, enhancing our connectivity and offering greater benefits to our loyal customers. The collaboration with Air France-KLM holds great opportunities. It will not only attract new passengers to SAS, but also elevate the SAS’ global visibility and connectivity. We are looking forward to a successful, long-standing collaboration together.”

Air France-KLM flyers will have access to Scandinavian cities like Tromso, Norway on SAS thanks to the partnership.

As a passenger I’m excited about the partnership since I mostly fly SkyTeam to Europe and get the most value out of redeeming Flying Blue points for flights, given KLM’s direct Austin to Amsterdam service. On our most recent trip to Europe, I had the chance to try out SAS for the first time on a flight between Tromso and Stockholm. SAS doesn’t offer Business Class on their Scandinavian routes but their Economy Plus product was pleasant.

Summary

Air France, KLM, and SAS have all signed codeshare and interline agreements for flights across Europe. This comes as SAS prepares to join the SkyTeam alliance on September 1st, 2024. Tickets are currently available for booking for travel as of September 1st on each airline’s respective website.
