A few months ago I came across a fare on the FlyerTalk Premium Fare Deals forum for an American domestic First Class flight between my home airport of Austin (AUS) and Nashville (BNA). With ATX Jr. taking up most of my time I knew that I needed to maximize my time away from home while also maximizing my British Airways Executive Club Tier Point earnings.
When it came down to the final planning for this quick trip, I turned to a college buddy of mine and fellow BAEC Gold flyer based in Washington D.C. Together we (mostly him) put together a insane, single day itinerary that featured six segments, touching five airports, in a span of roughly 18-hours. After we initially booked our flights, American hit us with a few schedule changes but here is our current flight plan, for now.
When I plot it out on a map it looks crazy and we’ll really be putting the efficiency of the American network to the test. One delAAy and this whole itinerary is toast.
While this quick trip is about getting as many Tier Points as quickly as possible, it also has the added benefit of allowing me to review some new products and lounges. While I won’t be reviewing every flight and lounge along the way, my plan is to try and capture the following:
- American Airlines Flagship Lounge Dallas/Ft. Worth (DFW)
- American Airlines Airbus A321 First Class (DFW-CLT)
- American Express Centurion Lounge Charlotte (CLT)
- American Airlines Admirals Club Concourse C/D Charlotte (CLT)
- American Airlines Admirals Club Nashville (BNA)
- American Eagle Embraer E175 First Class (BNA-DCA)
- American Airlines Airbus A319 First Class (DCA-CLT)
- American Airlines Admirals Club Concourse B Charlotte (CLT)
- American Airlines Boeing 737-800 First Class (CLT-AUS)
If everything goes according to plan, this should be a fun, quick trip!
Summary
While we have our flights booked, the real question in all of this comes down to whether or not this will actually happen as planned. American is still in the middle of a labor dispute with its flight attendants and even the slightest disruption is enough to throw a wrench in our plans, especially given some of the tight connections we have booked. Hopefully everything goes off without a hitch and we have a full day of hassle-free flying!
So question is how many tier points will this earn?
If my math is right it should earn 240 Tier Points and cost around $400. Booked into First
How many points and what did it cost?
240 TPs and approx $400 RT
Does your Washington DC tier point pro friend initials are ACE?
Nope, different guy.
Fascinating. Please post about the final results. I’d also love to read about what 240 BA tier points means in practical terms.
This one trip will effectively give me BAEC Bronze but, with other flying this year I should qualify for BAEC Silver (OneWorld Sapphire) easily.
