The Luxury Collection, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of over 30 hotel brands announced the opening of the Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich today. The new hotel, situated in the heart of Munich’s historical “Stachus” Square, is the first The Luxury Collection brand hotel in Germany.
The hotel, designed by internationally acclaimed architects Nieto Sobejano, is described as capturing timeless sophistication and attitude of Munich with a new, contemporary design, which beautifully embodies the city’s rich stories and culture, offering unique, transformative experiences in the Bavarian capital.
Philipp Weghmann, Vice President and Global Brand Leader of The Luxury Collection, had this to say about the new property:
“This property marks a fitting entrance, embodying the tapestry of the country’s cosmopolitan culture. By introducing the brand’s unique ethos and enriching experiences to the exceptional city of Munich, this property is poised to offer guests an unparalleled blend of luxury hospitality and local flair.”

Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into the spacious atrium which features louvered structures and large, gold colored walls designed to establish a connection between the interior and exterior of the property.
The property also has a wide variety of art on display with works from internationally renowned artists including Joseph Beuys, Christo und Jeanne-Claude, and David John Flynn among others. The hotel aims to blend Bavaria’s tradition of art collecting with the city’s passion for fine art.
Koenigshof, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Munich Rooms and Amenities
The hotel has 106 guest rooms and suites featuring state of the art technology and curated artwork from local artists. Each room features dark wood-paneled walls, neutral-toned fabrics, and views of Munich through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
All rooms will also include some local touches thanks to welcome cards designed by local artist Alexandra von Frankenberg and a custom scent and tea unique to the property. Luxurious amenities including Byredo toiletries, Nespresso machines, Dyson Supersonic hairdryers, and Bose Bluetooth speakers will be featured in each room.
The largest room on the property, the 250 square meter Presidential Suite, spans the eighth and night floor and is the largest hotel suite in Munich. The suite features a private sauna, pool, and spa area with fantastic views of the surrounding area.
The property also houses three distinct areas for guests to relax and unwind. This includes the hotel’s signature restaurant, GRETA ORO, a Latin American restaurant from Peruvian chef Michael Cánepa. On the weekends, the restaurant and bar transform into a club-like atmosphere where guests can enjoy exceptional Amazonian cocktails in the adjacent bar or on the rooftop terrace.
Two lounge spaces “The Green” and “The Gold” provide some contrast to the club-like atmosphere at GRETA ORO. The Green is billed as a “serene lounge serving local delicacies including the specially crafted Koenigshof tea and the extravagant Koenigshof-Torte.
The Gold is a residential style space where guests can unwind with a curated selection of books and artwork. The Gold also features an outdoor terrace and breathtaking views of the city and the Bavarian Alps. Guests can enjoy the special edition Koenigshof Bellini made with mountain peach puree, lemon oil produced from Amalfi Coast lemons, and topped with Champagne.
