I just spent a few days in New York and had a chance to check out the Delta Sky Club located in Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Overall, this is a great lounge by outstation standards and is worth a visit before or after your next Delta flight in Newark.
Delta Sky Club Newark Location
Delta operates from Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport. This is the airport’s newest, and by far the nicest, terminal and is host to a variety of airlines. To access the Sky Club, after clearing security, head down the escalators to the main concourse.
From there, follow the signs towards Gates A9-A26 and airline clubs. After a short walk you’ll see signage for the United Club to the left while the Delta Sky Club and American Airlines Admirals Club are to the right.
The Sky Club is located one level up from the main concourse and can be accessed via stairs or elevator.
Delta Sky Club Newark Hours of Operation
The Delta Sky Club at Newark Liberty International Airport is open between 5:00a-8:00p Sunday through Friday and between 5:00a-6:15p on Saturdays.
Delta Sky Club Newark Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for Delta Sky Clubs are some of the most complex ones out there. The easiest way to enter the lounge is by using a qualifying American Express credit card (including the AmEx Platinum and Delta Reserve cards) or by having a Sky Club membership and a same day Delta boarding pass.
Currently, Delta and American Express cardholders who don’t hit $75,000 in spend during a calendar year will be limited on the number of entries per year in an effort to reduce crowding. You can find the full list of entry requirements here.
I accessed the lounge using my American Express Platinum Card. Since my card is connected to my SkyMiles account, I just scanned my boarding pass at the kiosk and was immediately granted access.
Delta Sky Club Newark Layout
The Delta Sky Club in Terminal A replaced the old lounge in Terminal B. Opened in August 2023, the space is laid out roughly in a triangle shape and measures in at over 7,000 square feet with seating for more than 200 guests.
Upon entering the lounge you turn to the left and find the first seating area. This space consists of some high backed booth pairs along with wraparound couch style seating. While it is located next to the entrance, this felt like the most cozy part of the lounge.
Further into the lounge is the main seating area. This space runs along a glass wall which separates the lounge from the concourse below. The centerpiece is a large, live edge, wooden table with seating for eight.
Most of the seating in the lounge consists of high backed armchairs but there are a few communal seating areas, workstations, and more private seating close to the windows.
On the far end of the lounge, closest to the ramp, is the bar area which has seating for eight passengers along with a secondary counter space which has low top and high top seating.
Near the buffet you’ll find more seating and some small cafe style tables. These were crammed tightly together and, given the lack of crowding, one or two of these could probably be removed in order to make more space.
Restrooms are located at the front of the lounge near the entrance. There is one hallway with private, all-gender stalls for passengers.
Delta Sky Club Newark Food and Beverage
On the food and beverage front, the Delta Sky Club Newark had a similar selection to what you will find at Sky Clubs across the country. With the exception of a few local beers, wines, and spirits, which typically aren’t complimentary, the beverage options are the same across the network.
One thing that I did find interesting was the “Best Airport Lounge Signature Cocktail” award for 2025. I’m assuming this award is given out by Delta but I don’t know that for a fact as there was no branding and this was the first time that I’ve seen one of these trophies.
The primary food and (non-alcoholic) beverage station is located at the rear of the lounge. Coca-Cola beverages are on offer along with Starbuck’s Coffee, juice, water, tea, and a coffee maker.
I visited the lounge in the morning so breakfast was on offer. While I find that Delta does a better job than other domestic carriers on its food offerings, the lineup is pretty similar across the board. Oatmeal, milk, and a selection of cereals were available on the buffet.
Next, there was a quinoa salad and some hummus with vegetables. This was followed by a selection of eggs and spreads.
This was followed by a yogurt bar that also had chia pudding and premade breakfast smoothies available along with a selection of fruit.
Three hot dishes were on offer, pork sausage, roasted potatoes with feta cheese, and two types of frittatas.
Finally, there was a small cart with a couple of different pastries available. From the looks of it, this cart can be rolled in and out depending on the time of day or level of demand in the lounge.
Delta Sky Club Newark Atmosphere
Newark is by far the smallest airport for Delta in the New York City area but this lounge punches above its weight. It’s a large lounge, given the size of the airline’s operation, and was calm and relaxed during my visit.
I visited on a Thursday morning so it is quite possible that I had a different experience from passengers that visit during peak times.
While I liked the lounge, there are a few things that keep it from being great. The lounge is open to the concourse below so there are no direct views of the airfield. Delta further limited these views by frosting most of the glass. This is great for privacy but I would have liked a better view.
While I would happily visit this lounge again, Newark is typically the least convenient airport for me when traveling to and from New York. Since I primarily fly Delta, I head to JFK when flying direct to Austin or, I head in and out of LaGuardia, via a connection, since its closer to the city.
Summary
Overall, the Delta Sky Club at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) is a very nice lounge, especially considering the fact that Newark is an outstation for the airline. The staff in the lounge is friendly and the space still feels new with the right amount of modern touches.
While I wouldn’t go out of my way to fly via Newark in order to visit the lounge, it is a nice space for Delta passengers that fly in and out of the New York area airport.
