EVA Air has just revealed its next destination in the United States. While it will be one of the airline’s longest routes, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.

EVA Air is Launching Flights between Taipei and Washington Dulles

Beginning in July 2026, EVA Air is launching flights between its hub at Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). While the route is not yet on sale as the carrier works through some of the final logistics, it is expected to operate 4x weekly using Boeing 787 aircraft.

Specifically, EVA Air is expected to deploy the Boeing 787-9 on the route which is equipped with 26 Business Class, 28 Premium Economy, and 224 Economy seats. The 7,864 mile route will be the carrier’s second longest route after its service between Taipei and Houston (IAH).

Timing for the route has yet to be revealed though it is expected to be similar to the timings on the Taipei-New York service. Those flights currently depart Taipei in the evening and arrives in New York during the evening. The return flight departs New York around midnight and arrives in Taipei early in the morning.

Why Washington Dulles?

Washington Dulles will be the carrier’s 8th destination in the United States, joining Chicago (ORD), Dallas Ft. Worth (DFW), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), and Seattle (SEA).

The majority of EVA Air’s destinations in the United States are to Star Alliance hubs, of which it is a member alongside United Airlines. This will allow for connectivity on both sides of the flight to destinations across Asia and the United States. As the nation’s capital, the demand for flights to Washington by business travelers as well as government officials will also help to fill the aircraft.

Washington Monument at Night
Washington D.C. is a logical destination for EVA Air.

Taiwan’s aviation sector is also extremely competitive with China Airlines, EVA Air, and Starlux all competing for passengers. Launching this route could be in part to wanting to keep a competitor out of the D.C. area though, with the Star Alliance connection, EVA Air is the most logical of the three to serve the airport.

Summary

EVA Air is launching flights between Taipei and Washington D.C beginning in June 2026. This will be the Taiwanese carrier’s 8th destination in the United States. Flights on the 7,864 mile route are expected to operate 4x weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
