Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that it is planning to open its first Andaz property in Hong Kong. The new property is expected to open in 2027 and will be part of the Central Crossing mixed-use development.
Andaz Hong Kong Central Opening in 2027
The new Andaz Hong Kong Central will be part of the new Central Crossing development located at 118 Wellington Street in Central Hong Kong. In addition to the hotel, the development will feature commercial office space and green spaces while maintaining some of the area’s historical architecture.
Once complete, the Andaz Hong Kong Central will feature 125 guestrooms and suites. This includes premium options that can double as intimate event spaces. According to Hyatt, the hotel is “designed as a love letter to Hong Kong” and will “weave the city’s unique dualities into a thoughtful tapestry of culture and design.”

The hotel’s lobby area is being designed to create a “social anchor where conversations can unfold and refreshments flow from morning to evening”. This will be further supported by an all-day restaurant along with other dining options.
While the press release doesn’t provide us with a ton of information, one thing that did catch my eye is the Andaz Village. According to Hyatt, this will be the first ever Andaz Village which is intended to be a retail hub for “some of the world’s most interesting brands.” While details are scant, it sounds like we could see this concept repeated at other Andaz properties.
David Udell, Group President for the Asia Pacific region at Hyatt, said this about the upcoming property:
“We are honored to be part of this landmark project with Wing Tai Properties and CSI Properties in the heart of Central, building on our deep roots in Hong Kong since the opening of Hyatt’s first hotel outside the United States here in 1969. The continued growth of the Andaz brand reflects our focus on intentional expansion in key locations and distinctive experiences for discerning travelers.”
More details regarding the property are expected in the months leading up to its opening.
My Thoughts
While I haven’t stayed at many Hyatt properties, as I am primarily a Marriott and Hilton guy, I am a big fan of the Andaz brand. Mrs. ATX and I had our first experience with the brand at the Andaz Prague during our babymoon and had a wonderful experience. Since then, I’m always on the lookout for a chance to stay with the brand again.

It is great seeing Hyatt continue to build out the Andaz portfolio and continuing to expand globally. My biggest knock on the brand is the lack of properties they have when compared to Marriott and Hilton.
Now that work is taking me to places like New York its less of an issue than it was when I was regularly traveling to places like Tulsa and Baton Rouge but that has been the main driver holding me back from shifting more stays to Hyatt. Maybe in the next few years I’ll be ready to make the switch.
Summary
Hyatt Hotels Corporation is opening its first Andaz Property in Hong Kong. The 125 room Andaz Hong Kong Central is expected to open in 2027 and, while details are limited, the property will feature the first ever Andaz Village shopping center.
